Traveloka is Reportedly Seeking New Funding Worth 7 Trillion Rupiah

To maximize regional expansion; potentially increase the valuation to $4,5 billion

Startups unicorn Traveloka is reportedly in discussions to get new funding. The target value is $500 million (equivalent to more than 7 trillion Rupiah) and will bring the company's valuation to $4,5 billion.

good news reported by WSJ The statement also explained Traveloka's plan to increase regional expansion. There is no information about potential investors who will participate, said sources will soon be "closed" in the next few months.

Finally, news about Traveloka's new funding round broke in April 2019 and then in private equity rounds, led by GIC (Government of Singapore Investment Corporation), is said to be worth $450 million. So there is a possibility that $500 million is part of the closing of this round.

Initiative fundraising Traveloka has also been broadcast since last year. Initially targeted to raise $400 million.

In terms of service, the startup founded by Ferry Unardy, Derianto Kusuma and Albert Zhang is indeed already available in several countries. Besides Indonesia, there are Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Australia which are the focus of their market share. Including for its newest service, Xperience, which has recently seen its penetration greatly boosted.

The corporate action is predicted as one of the strategies to enter "disruption" in the entertainment business -- the two companies will integrate the platforms.
