Telkomsel and Pertamina Collaborate, Implementing IoT Solutions on Fuel Trucks

FleetSight is an "existing" product that was evolved to align with the focus Telkomsel in the B2B segment

Telkomsel officially signed a collaboration with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga to implement the solution FleetSight on operational vehicles transporting Fuel Oil (BBM) trucks.

President Director Telkomsel Emma Sri Hartini revealed, this collaboration is one of the company's steps to boost business in the B2B segment through technology-based solutions, such as IoT, big dataand digital advertising.

"In the future, we will promote the B2B business through mobile solutions by integrating into the [SIM] number. Our 4G network coverage is wide. This [solution] will certainly facilitate access," said Emma at the MoU with Pertamina Patra Niaga, Monday (2/9).

Meanwhile, the President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Nina Sulistyowati, said that the application of FleetSight is part of digital innovations carried out to achieve company efficiency and productivity.

"There are so many work accidents or other things that occur in the distribution of fuel. Therefore, this solution can improve driving safety and comfort, including suppressing fraud," said Nina on the sidelines of this MoU.

In his explanation, GM Fleet Management Telkomsel Arief Teguh Hermawan said this Internet of Things (IoT)-based solution will be implemented in three stages. The first stage, the installation of FleetSight has been carried out in 1.800 fleets and is ready to operate starting this September.

While the second and third stages are improvements to the FleetSight feature by integrating a number of additional sensors with different functions, such as identifying vehicle brake parameters and engine oil viscosity.

He said there are a total of 17 FleetSight features that will be embedded Telkomsel into the transportation mode of fuel distribution. Currently, there are three that are operational and five features that are still in the development stage.

Actually, said Arief, Fleetsight is not a new solution, but a solution Existing for retail segment launched since 2017. FleetSight evolved since last year in line with new focus Telkomsel in the B2B segment.

"Big picture from Fleetsight this is a vehicle [solution] because we are now focusing on B2B instead of on B2C. There are now at least 4-6 million commercial vehicles, of which adoption [fleet management] is still below 20 percent," he said.

More Coverage:

Functionally, the FleetSight solution was developed to monitor and control vehicle fleets through satellite-based devices embedded in various types of sensors or vehicle auxiliary equipment.

FleetSight is able to record vehicle mobility and gather information in the form of insights and data. This information will be processed so that it can provide warnings directly real-time when the vehicle exceeds operating speed or traverses an inappropriate route.

"We are exploring with several other sectors to implement solutions fleet management. A number of use case also prepared. For example, monitoring generators for public transportation or tracking shipments in the logistics sector," concluded Arief.
