Currently Fanny Verona serves as Country Manager of Line Indonesia

Her colorful career journey since 2007 has brought Fanny Verona's name known to the startup community in Indonesia. At a young age, Fanny has been trusted to hold the position of Country Manager for Line Indonesia.

Since the first, Fanny has always seen opportunities as challenges and opportunities for her to broaden her horizons to develop a career. To DailySocial, he talked about his love for technological innovation and his hopes for Line Indonesia.

Love the world of technology

Having no educational background related to technology, Fanny had a career in Sales, Business Development, to Marketing because she was very curious and always tried to challenge her own abilities.

"Whatever background we try to always grow your growth mindset. I always feel like I'm not smart enough. "Never be arrogant about your own abilities, create a desire to continue learning," said Fanny.

He then started to see the future, not just about gadgets, but digital innovation. Seeing the emergence of social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, Fanny then became interested in exploring technological innovation and its ecosystem.

"At that time internet penetration in Indonesia was not as good as it is now. But from there I started to see that the future was digital. I then tried to look for industries that were hyping the water, how can i jump into that industry, how can I join the party, said Fanny.

Fanny had the opportunity to meet the founder Groupon Indonesia in 2011. This new type of shopping platform turned out to be quite accepted by people who at that time were not very familiar with online shopping activities.

"Indonesians have a great sense of enthusiasm and quickly adapt to something new. Starting from handphone new ones coming out and so on. Culture learning by doing makes Indonesian people willing to try new things," said Fanny.

From Groupon then Fanny moved to Lazada which is new to Indonesia. For almost two years Fanny held the position as Head of Business Development. He gained a lot of experience while working at Lazada. Starting from dealing directly with sellers, who at that time were still very few in number, to receiving written letters from those who submitted complaints.

"The presence of e-commerce services such as Lazada and others not only serves to move offline shopping activities to online, but is also able to overcome problems that many sellers are still experiencing at that time, namely expanding the reach of their services."

Line Indonesia and fintech

Obey passion to try something new, off Lazada Fanny glanced at the platform chat messenger Line. Still having a team of 7 people, Line placed its teams into several different divisions. Based on her experience working at Lazada, Fanny was trusted to handle the e-commerce division.

"I see roleIt's very interesting to see what opportunities in this industry Line can innovate. At that time we started developing Line Shopping, Line Ads and Line Pay. "I saw the opportunity as the next step for me to increase my knowledge," said Fanny.

Despite being one of the first employees at Line, in 2016 Fanny decided to explore a career in the world of fintech. The first company he explored was my money. Then he joined helloPay which is a company j between Lazada and Sinar Mas.

Apart from helloPay, Fanny built a career in DAM Corporation. When she served as Managing Director at DAM Corporation, Fanny was still 26 years old. DAM Corporation is a subsidiary of Bank Mandiri which was built to accelerate the presence and adoption of the Mandiri E-Cash digital e-money platform.

"When I was at DAM Corporation, I was initially offered to hold the position of CMO, but then I was asked to hold the position of Managing Director. This position was quite challenging for me because I had to directly supervise around 100 employees. However, thanks to help from mentors and superiors, I was able to do all the work finish it," said Fanny.

As Director of Strategy & New Business, he is required to provide new ideas and innovations by looking at market potential and how Line Indonesia innovates with the latest products and services. This opportunity was considered very interesting for Fanny. He saw this potential as blank canvas and he is trusted to draw things he likes.

“Because the work is mostly behind the scenes, we do more market research. "There are still several new innovations that will be launched, but what I am most proud of is the launch of Split Bill," said Fanny.

As a global company, Fanny is proud that the Indonesian team is able to create innovation only in Line Indonesia, namely Split Bills. He continues to strive to create a solid team and how to bring global innovation adapted to local wisdom.

In July this year, Fanny was entrusted with the position of Country Manager replacing Dale Kim.

"I hope that in the future Line Indonesia can do it thrive, it's up to and can innovate markets. Is as a platform social networks, messenger or fintech, we don't want to limit Line to just that social messenger just. As a technology company what is currently Happening currently and can be done innovate by Line to help the Indonesian people, that's what we are trying to build and work on," said Fanny.
