Subsidiary Telkomsel and GoTo Forms Game Company "Majamojo"

Telkomsel through its subsidiary PT Telkomsel Digital Ecosystem (TED) and GoTo through PT Application Multimedia Anak Bangsa (AMAB) announced a joint venture company PT Games Karya Nusantara (Majamojo). This company specializes in working on the game market in Southeast Asia.

As is well known, Telkomsel is one of strategic investors di Gojek. This is the umpteenth initiative resulting from the synergy between the two. Previously a number of agendas had been carried out, for example integrating Telkomsel MyAds with GoBiz, package Telkomsel specifically for driver partners, and others. Regarding the game itself, a collaboration has also been announced Telkomsel Dunia Games with the Gopay platform.

Mamamojo will focus on being a publishing company (publisher) which opens up opportunities for strategic partnerships with third-party development companies. The company will encourage penetration and dominance in the national local gaming industry, especially mobile platforms.

Menurut report Newzoo and Niko Partners, growth mobile game in Southeast Asia in 2014-2017 reached more than 180%. This figure is predicted to continue to grow over the next five years. Shibuya Data Count also estimates that the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of the gaming industry in Southeast Asia will reach 8,5% in the 2020-2025 period.

This potential makes both companies confident to take the gaming industry more seriously. They will collaborate by synergizing the resources of the two companies, including digital capabilities, technology assets, and an integrated business ecosystem.

This collaboration will strengthen the existence of local gaming industry players, especially encouraging the birth of more digital talents from local children. Therefore, the presence of Majamojo is expected to support the acceleration of digital transformation and expand the benefits of the national digital economy.

CEO Telkomsel Digital Ecosystem Andi Kristianto said that his party seeks to maximize the advantages of assets and capabilities Telkomsel to develop Majamojo in the gaming ecosystem, complementing what Dunia Games has covered so far. "We are optimistic that Majamojo will have a strategic role and can contribute optimally in advancing the gaming industry in Indonesia and Southeast Asia," Andi said in an official statement, Wednesday (23/2).

The presence of Mamamojo also strengthens efforts Telkomsel enriching vertical business lines in the digital field, after PT Kuncie Pintar Nusantara (Kuncie) and PT Fita Sehat Nusantara (Tape). Even so from the GoTo side, via Gojek, previously there were several affiliated game platforms, such as MPL (invested in Go-Ventures) and Playing game (powered for GoGames).

Head of GoTo Strategic Partnership Reggy Susanto added that this joint venture has extraordinary resources to become the largest gaming company in the region. Moreover, over the past few years, the two companies have established close collaborations because there is a common vision in growing an inclusive and sustainable digital economy in Indonesia.

In the ownership structure of Mamamojo, TED is the majority shareholder. Jungwon Hahn was trusted as President Director and M. Dody Darmawan as Finance Director. Jungwon Hahn has previously worked for a number of gaming companies, such as Razer, Wargaming, and Molten Games.
