Telkom Group Officially Injects 2,1 Trillion Rupiah for Gojek

Done through Telkomsel

Rumors of Telkom's investment for Gojek finally it was officially announced through disclosure on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Tuesday (17/11). Telkom, through its subsidiary, Telkomsel, entered the ranks of investors with a total investment as previously mentioned, $150 million (equivalent to Rp2,1 trillion).

In the disclosure, Telkom VP Investor Relations Andi Setiawan explained that investment in AKAB (PT Application Karya Anak Bangsa) is a form of commitment Telkomsel as a digital telecommunications company to provide services beyond connectivity.

Telkom believes this collaboration can provide better services and solutions to the community in building an inclusive and sustainable digital ecosystem.

"With this transaction, starting from the fulfillment of all conditions based on the Agreement and the signing of the related documents, then" Telkomsel will have an investment in AKAB of $150 million,” he wrote.

It was stated jointly that the two companies would strengthen digital services, encourage innovation and new products, and increase convenience for users and MSMEs.

Rumor entry of the Telkom Group to Gojek it has been in circulation since 2018. The value of the investment proposal at that time was even greater, reaching $400 million. However, the plan was hampered by the blessing of the Minister of BUMN at that time. With the change in leadership, SOE Minister Erick Thohir gave the green light for this action.

Telkom's entry adds to the local conglomerate that enters Gojek, after Astra and Djarum (via Blibli). Included in the realization of this strategic partnership is product development for each platform, for example a joint venture GoFleet, Among Gojek and Astra, which targets Go-Car drivers as its users.

Performance Gojek himself, described last week, is said to have managed to survive the pandemic. The company recorded an increase in total transaction value within the group's platform, as measured by the Gross Transaction Value (GTV) matrix which posted an increase of 10% and reached $12 billion (almost Rp170 trillion) this year.

Monthly active users Gojek currently reaches 38 million people throughout Southeast Asia and has 900 thousand merchants. This time of year, companies invest heavily in services Grocery (GoMart and GoShop) to adapt to new habits during the pandemic.
