Otomo Claims Growth Amid Pandemic, Launches Mobile Application for Business Acceleration

Schedule a follow-up fundraising at the end of the year

After doing rebranding end of 2019, vehicle rental platform otomo (formerly Automo) claims to experience positive growth, including in the midst of the crisis due to the pandemic. To DailySocial Otomo founder Charles Lin revealed that they have also launched an application that can be downloaded on the Play Store.

"Currently we have launched an application for users in Indonesia and are actively building more features that not only help motorists but also car owners earn extra income without using their car," said Charles.

With this app, drivers can instantly increase their income from customer service and car cleaning, as users can order directly from each driver if they like the ride and the service.

In the future, this method can ensure quality services that can be enjoyed when traveling with Otomo. Otomo is also currently opening registration for drivers and vehicle owners in Jakarta. To make it easier for users to access the platform.

Changes due to the pandemic

Otomo noted that the pandemic has also changed people's behavior in terms of using vehicles or public transportation. What Otomo can provide is a much safer means of transportation, relying on the same and preferred driver, for all trips during the month. That way, it can reduce contact to more riders in one day, which will not only increase the income of drivers but also improve the safety aspect.

"Our new, enhanced business model was planned just before the pandemic occurred, which fortunately for us occurred before the launch of the application when the PSBB was enforced. During the PSBB the developer we are working hard to complete the application," said Charles.

Automo Plan

This year there are several plans that Otomo wants to achieve, one of which is to raise funds by the end of this year. The company also expects the next few years to be profitable. Otomo is currently also one of the participants in the GK Plug & Play Batch 6 acceleration program which was held this year.

Currently, around 70 vendors have joined in various regions. Starting from Jakarta, Labuan Bajo, Bali, Bandung to Yogyakarta too. Not only providing car options, later this year Otomo will also launch yachts and helicopters.

More Coverage:

There are about 300 more listing that can be used by users. Otomo has also teamed up with Cars and Trips Pte Ltd in Singapore for a launch later this year which provides concept car rental and car sharing services. peer-to-peer.

"We see Otomo as Spotify and Airbnb for transportation in Indonesia. Where you can now book a ride for a whole month, based on your own schedule at a much lower cost than buying yourself and hiring your own driver. Allows riders to scale and choose days what they need for a ride, and never have to worry about parking, road taxes, Odd-Even rules or even car breakdowns again," says Charles.
