Accelerating Asia Increases Investment Value to Startups, Reopens Fifth Cohort Registration

Target startups in the pre-series A stage, with funding of around $250 thousand each or the equivalent of 3,5 billion Rupiah

Accelerating Asia, a venture capital firm and accelerator for pre-series A startups, announced an increase in its overall investment amount. Startups can now receive funding of up to $250.000 (equivalent to IDR 3,5 billion), up from $150.000 (equivalent to IDR 2,1 billion) in the previous period.

"We are very pleased to see the traction, yield and growth of our startup portfolio so far. With the increased investor interest they are receiving, this is an early sign that our accelerated funding model is successful. Therefore, we decided that now is the right time to increase the amount of investment and put greater trust in startups that follow our program," said Amra Naidoo, Co-Founder & General Partner of Accelerating Asia.

Since 2019, they claim to have succeeded in accelerating the growth of 36 leading pre-series A startups in countries with the fastest digital economy growth such as Indonesia, Singapore, Bangladesh, Vietnam and India. To date, Accelerating Asia's startup portfolio has raised a collective $27 million and 65% of that was earned after joining the Accelerating Asia network.

Across the portfolio, startups that completed flagship accelerator programs in 2019 and 2020 have tripled their monthly income, from USD 9.000 at the start of the Accelerating Asia program to USD 27.000 in 2021.

Opening of the Fifth Accelerating Asia Cohort

After before announce 11 startups that are included in the fourth cohort, currently Accelerating Asia has opened cohorts 5 and will be closed on June 30, 2021. In addition to its flagship accelerator program, Accelerating Asia also supports the startup ecosystem through Amplify, a virtual accelerator 6-module which gives startups access to the best resources to grow their business.

In particular, Accelerating Asia offers investors early and exclusive access to view the startup portfolio to provide an overview of the flow of transactions that are eligible, prorated rights, and the opportunity to choose in advance to invest. In 2021 onwards, Accelerating Asia plans to launch Fund II in the second half of 2021 and will continue to fund and accelerate efforts to pre-series A flagship startups in Southeast Asia and South Asia.

Going forward, the company plans to expand its presence, developing a larger footprint in various markets through cohort recruitment and partnerships with governments and investors.
