Jejak.in Platform Helps FMCG Businesses Plan an Environmentally Friendly Production System

One of the startups selected to join the program Gojek Xcelerate fourth batch

As a country with the fourth most populous population and one of the top ten carbon emitters in the world, Indonesia has quite a stake in climate change. The government is trying to reduce its impact with the commitments contained in Law no. 16 of 2016 concerning the Paris Agreement on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Some companies are starting to realize that the carbon emissions produced by industry have a negative impact, not only on the environment, but also on business continuity and social impacts. Departing from this, Arfan Arlanda as Founder and CEO trail.in, initiating a platform that utilizes technology to help businesses engage in reducing the pace of climate change.

Business model and target market

The platform, which started operating at the end of 2018, targets early consumers from the FMCG industry. The solution they developed has succeeded in helping the FMCG industry, which often faces issues in planning, implementing, and monitoring conservation programs using the MRV (Measurable, Report-able, and Verifiable) method. For example, how extreme weather could disrupt their supply chain or stricter climate regulations could later damage the value of their investment and business.

Jejak.in has a mission to accelerate climate action through AI and IoT-based solutions. One of their flagship products is Tree and Carbon Storage Monitoring Platform, a platform that leverages mobile technology, drones, IoT sensors, LiDAR, and satellites to collect and analyze environmental ecological data. In addition, there are other features that serve to measure the impact of carbon sequestration, water infiltration, soil and air conditions, and biodiversity.

"Our long-term goal is to address various environmental issues, one of which is by actively helping businesses and consumers to better understand their carbon footprint, and enabling them to easily access our technology to offset it," added Arfan.

In its mission to create large-scale social impact, Jejak.in has officially joined the program Gojek Xcelerate fourth batch along with ten other startups. Arfan also expressed his hope to be able to continue to develop outside of the programs that he had participated in.
