Shipper Logistics Aggregator Platform Reportedly Books Series A Funding of 294 Billion Rupiah

Led by Naspers with involvement of AC Ventures, Insignia Ventures Partners, and Lightspeed Venture Partners

Shipper, a logistics aggregator platform developer, is reported to have booked a series A funding of $20 million or the equivalent of 294,3 billion Rupiah. The round was led by Naspers with the involvement of previous investors namely AC Ventures, Insignia Ventures Partners, and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

This news was first released by Deal Street Asia; We have contacted Shipper Co-Founder Budi Handoko and AC Venture Managing Partner Adrian Li to get further confirmation, however, both are reluctant to comment on the news.

Previously the company closed seed round them in September 2019, raised $5 million or the equivalent of 70,3 billion Rupiah. Investors involved include Lightspeed Ventures Partners, Floodgate Ventures, Insignia Ventures Partners, Convergence Ventures, and Y Combinator.

Since its founding in 2017, Shipper has provided a unified dashboard to help online sellers di E-commerce manage customer order shipments. In this dashboard, business people can easily get recommendations for the most efficient logistics services, including for scheduling pick-ups and reporting in an integrated manner.

From Shipper's internal data, it is noted that currently there are approximately 2500 logistics providers in Indonesia with various business scales. The Shipper service has also been used by about 25 thousand merchants online in Indonesia. This year they are targeting to have 1000 hub micro for pickup and 20 logistics centers. The ambition for regional expansion has also been conveyed, the target is also to be able to serve the markets of Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

Besides Budi, Shipper was also founded by Phil Opamuratawongse. Last year, they successfully joined the accelerator program And Combinator in Silicon Valley, to be precise in the Winter 2019 period.

In Indonesia the platform "smart logistics” continues to grow. For aggregator platforms, apart from Shipper, there are also Angelo which was inaugurated at the end of 2019. The types of logistics services offered include last mile delivery, cargo via air and sea, customs services, to warehousing.

In addition, with a model that is more integrated with the platform, Bukalapak has also launched OpenSend. Aggregating services from logistics partners who have joined the company to make it easier for consumers to make deliveries and order couriers.
