List of Indonesian Startups in the Health Sector

The health sector is one of the segments currently being worked on by local developers at the startup level. Generally they provide reservation services and doctor's directory, but some others issue new innovations that are ready to be relied on for the medical needs of their users.

The following are startups in Indonesia that have successfully launched services and applications in the health sector.

Doctor.id

Doctor.id is an online portal that contains various health information. This online portal, which previously had the name SelectDokter, has several main features, including the "Tanya Doctor" discussion forum, which allows visitors to have discussions with doctors directly, similar to an online forum. In addition, visitors can also perform a health diagnosis (check) automatically by entering various information about the symptoms experienced.

Doctor.id is also currently growing its existence as a directory of doctors and hospitals in Indonesia. Data on the distribution of doctors and hospitals began to be collected by this portal. For a list of hospitals, even Dokter.id also provides a review menu. His goal is to become popular review sites like those already in demand in the hospitality and culinary fields.

This startup in the health sector initially positioned itself as a marketplace in the health sector. Doctormana's main service is to provide connecting patients with doctors, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and health insurance services so as to enable a transparent service process that can be done online.

The solution presented by Firman Siahaan and colleagues was initiated in early 2015. Until now, Doktermana's services have only covered the Jakarta and Banten areas. Doctormana tries to bring all the conveniences that exist in the e-commerce concept into health services, so that patients can feel comfortable when they go to a hospital or doctor.

DoctorHealthy

DoctorHealthy is an online portal in the health sector that provides information and utilities to help users live healthy lives. DoctorSehat can be accessed via the web, Android and iOS applications. In addition to providing integrated information, through the DoctorSehat portal, it also provides a channel for patient interaction with doctors.

At the beginning of its emergence, DokterSehat also partnered with Internet.org which was initiated by Facebook and became the only local health startup registered with this service. It also partners with Ciputra Healthcare Group and Bank Mata Jakarta (Mata Bank) to gather local knowledge and improve portal functionality in Indonesia.

This startup promoted by Indra Darmawan was originally established as a simple information site with several doctors filling in the content. However, since the last quarter of 2015, DokterSehat has been transformed into an integrated health portal with more than 50.000 unique visitors every day with various health features such as a directory of doctors and hospitals in Indonesia, trusted health information, online consultation, and a platform for health discussions.

Doctor on standby

Similar to the services provided by Doktermana and Dokter.id, Doctor on standby present as a new startup that provides doctor and hospital schedule booking services. Carrying a feature dubbed "Smart Reservation Doctor" which was developed with a special algorithm, the Doktersiaga service hopes that in the future it can become the main service and serve millions of users.

The startup founded by Fatah Iskandar Akbar uses the Smart Reservation Doctor feature as the foundation of their service. This feature allows patients to schedule visits to doctors and hospitals more easily and quickly. So there is a shortened waiting time. A feature that is typical of similar services. HaloDoc

Application-based healthcare HaloDoc officially launched. Developed by MHealth Tech which received investment support from Mensa Group, Global Digital Niaga (Blibli), Go-Jek, and a health fund from a number of investors, HaloDoc present want to bring closer and facilitate access to health for the community.

Through HaloDoc, consumers can carry out medical consultations using the video call (teleconsultation) feature, purchase drugs through Inter-Pharmacists who arrive first, and on-demand lab examinations. Nevertheless, HaloDoc will not replace existing health centers due to consultation with doctors at HaloDoc should not result in a diagnosis and prescription.

Apart from these three main features, HaloDoc also has a Directory that contains information on doctors and health centers in Indonesia. HiDoctor

Startups hiDoctor operates under the umbrella of AMPlified Digital Media Production together with AppsCo and Labbaik. haiDokter was initiated in February 2015 as a health information portal with an adult style of delivery. But in October 2015 haiDokter decided to pivot and was born as a health portal that targets the younger generation through a lighter delivery style.

With this new concept, haiDokter also distributes content through various social media channels which are generally inhabited by the younger generation, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and SoundCloud. In addition, there are also live streaming services.

ClickDoctor

KlikDokter is a startup that focuses on information and education portals about health managed by doctors and medical professionals. Just like online health portals in general, KlikDokter provides a directory that lists doctors, hospitals, drugs and pharmacies.

Specialist rubrics and health reviews are one of the differentiators for KlikDokter as a health information system. The portal also provides information about health terms sorted alphabetically. Last KlikDokter with Lifebuoy cooperate developing a mobile-based health education application.

Consulate

Consulate was founded by Shinta Nurfauzia, Johannes Ardiant, and Ronald Wijaya, three Indonesians who studied in the United States. This service was established based on the fact that in Indonesia, it is still very difficult to find reliable doctors who meet the patient's needs, even though there are currently around 160,000 registered doctors in Indonesia. That's why Consulate act as a marketplace that brings together patients with doctors who fit their needs.

After getting funding from East Ventures in October 2015, towards the end of the year it launched the full version of the consula after previously only being in beta. In the full version Konsula provides Konsula Connect, news, and tips as a form of improvement from the previous version. And lastly in early 2016, Konsula Chat was also presented to provide a better experience in consulting with doctors through a mobile application.

Lokadok

With his experience in the medical field, software developer Dannie Yo developed a website service listing and a doctor reservation system named Lokadok. The Lokadok portal itself has been developed since July 2015, and currently has gathered more than 1.500 doctors. Lokadok's development has a vision to make it easy for patients and doctors to schedule appointments for consultation or treatment needs.

To complete the system, LokaDok recently launched its newest service called LokaDok OmniCare. This new service is designed to help clinics or hospitals manage patient waiting queues more efficiently. OmniCare is also connected to the booking system in the Lokadok application.

Medical

Medical is a hospital management service based on SaaS (Software as a Service). Medico was founded by Grace Tahir and Jonathan Susantyo. Both of them have been involved in the world of health services for a long time. In addition to managing Medico, Grace also founded Dokter.id, an online health consultation site that has received funding from RingMD.

Medico recently announced the acquisition of seed funding, for an undisclosed amount, from East Ventures. Funding will be used to recruit talent and improve the quality of the system so that it is ready to launch early in the second quarter of this year.

By offering SaaS-based services, Medico tries to provide a different perspective because so far the system is usually developed and maintained by third-party consultants, but the servers are usually located on the local network.

my medicine

Application my medicine currently consists of 5 main features, namely First Aid, Symptom Checker, Medical History, Hospital Finder and Pill Reminder. First Aid is a health information system service that can be accessed to get tips for taking quick action when a health emergency occurs. Symptom Checker is a facility that can be used to check potential disease by indicating the symptoms felt by the user.

Mediku was developed from an idea that Velta Azizah Destiana and colleagues got while participating in a brainstorming event at the Gemastik (ICT Student Exhibition) UGM, a startup called VistoWorks Studio was inspired to create an application in the health sector. The idea is realized in a Mediku application. The application is already available on Google Play.

MedicalMap

Featuring a geographic information system-based user interface, MedisMap provides search services for health facilities and medical personnel based on specific locations. Users can also perform specific searches based on services or insurance options that can be used for treatment at the clinic/doctor.

The MedisMap system also allows patients to register online and get guaranteed service times and online notifications. Currently the MedisMap application can be enjoyed via web, iOS and Android platforms. And already operating in Jakarta, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Malang, as well as Gersik.

Ovules

The lack of in-depth knowledge among Indonesian women about body conditions and fertility/reproduction has prompted Friesca Saputra and Yuvensia Lidya Riyanto to establish a website and mobile application that is fully functional to recognize and observe the signs that occur in a woman's body named Ovules.

Founded in 2015, Ovula was developed based on the Billings Ovulation Method (MOB), a method as simple as recognizing and observing the signs that occur in a woman's body, related to her fertility.

Besides being able to be accessed via a browser, the Ovula application is currently also available for download on the Android platform. Targeting women aged 25-40 years, using this application users can feel and observe sensations in the female area, as well as visible signs. The results of these observations will be recorded daily, resulting in fertility patterns that can be used according to a couple's or individual's plans, such as trying to conceive, spacing pregnancies, or monitoring reproductive health.

patient developed by four students from Gajah Mada University (UGM). They are Fadli Wilihandarwo, Dimas Ragil Mumpuni, Haydar Ali Ismail, and Nur Hilda. Patientia is also a product of the Innovative Academy incubator, a startup incubator owned by UGM. This mobile application with an Android platform has a concept similar to that of Patient's social media, trying to provide a digital space for patients to communicate with doctors and fellow patients.

Patientia so far has several volunteer doctors who help, share, and answer questions from patients regarding their health complaints. Fadli also said that they are currently trying to collaborate with the health examination lab to provide benefits in the form of convenience for Patientia users in carrying out their health checks.

ProHealth

ProHealth is an Indonesian startup that focuses on being a marketplace service to help consumers find and buy original drugs through e-Recipes and auto refill subs. Apart from the desktop, ProSehat can also be accessed through a mobile application for Android devices. This ProSehat application was developed by a team with a strong medical background. The team consists of dr. Bimo, dr. Agnes, and Wiguni. This team also previously ran the TanyaDok health question and answer portal.

ProSehat itself was developed based on problems such as long drug queues and unclear prescription redeeming processes, unavailable drug stock due to factory production and distribution, forgetting to buy prescription drugs that must be redeemed regularly, especially for people with chronic diseases, consumer awareness of the importance of understanding information and drug safety and lack of knowledge about drug prices.

Stethoscope

Similar to Mediku, this web portal features rating, review, and search for health services in Indonesia. Stethoscope started development in April 2015, but only just launched in mid 2015.

Denistya Sagita as Project Manager of Stetoskoop once told DailySocial that there are several features they rely on. One of them is Reviews and Ratings. With this feature, users can share their experience of visiting a health facility with other users.

AskDoc

TanyaDok developed by PT. Atomic Medical. The service, which was previously called TanyaDokterAnda, has been around since 2006. TanyaDok is also the winner Echelon 2013 Jakarta Satellite in March 2013. Until now the TanyaDok service is still operating and continues to be developed.

AskDok Live be one of its main features. This feature allows TanyaDok users to obtain free online health consultation services.
