Halodoc Prepare for Regional Expansion

Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia are countries targeted for expansion

Startups healthtech Halodoc disclosed regional expansion plans. Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia are neighboring countries targeted by the company because they are seen as having the same problems as Indonesia.

Quoting from the CEO interview Halodoc Jonathan Sudharta at Nikkei Asia, he mentioned that companies always have a dream to simplify access to healthcare. "We never said it was only for Indonesia," he explained.

Jonathan did not provide details regarding his company's expansion schedule. Both Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia have the same problems as Indonesia, one of which is traffic congestion. After regional expansion, Jonathan intends to move outside the region.

He reasoned that normally Indonesia imports solutions from abroad, but as Southeast Asia's largest economy, it has so many different health care issues that companies like Halodoc can solve problems in Indonesia. He also believes that his solutions can be exported to places such as the US, Europe, Japan and Singapore.

When contacted separately by DailySocial.id, Jonathan did not respond to all inquiries as of this writing.

His closest competitor, HealthReplies.com has expanded to Thailand since 2016 with brandPobPad. Just like HealthReplies.com, PobPad also provides health-related information in Thai that is easily digested by anyone. However, the PobPad solution is not as comprehensive as Alodokter, which provides teleconsultation, shopping for medicines, and making appointments for consultations with doctors and/or finding preferred hospitals.

Focus on preventive solutions

On the way Halodoc Since 2016, the company has been active in providing various curative health solutions, now moving into solutions that focus on prevention. This can be found in the application Halodoc, among others, Diabetes Risk, Heart Risk, Menstrual and Pregnancy Calendar, BMI Calculator, Medication Reminder, Donations, Stress Check, Depression Test, and many more.

Halodoc has four main features, namely the Health Shop, a service to help users buy supplements, vitamins and medicines with a doctor's prescription quickly, safely & conveniently at more than 4.000 partner pharmacies; Doctor Chat which allows patients to interact with more than 20.000 experienced and trusted doctors through chats, video calls, or voice call.

Furthermore, Doctor's Appointments which allows users to make appointments with doctors at 2.000 partner hospitals; and, Medical & Lab Services to order various COVID-19 test and vaccination services by method walk in or drive thru.

Beyond that, the company also carries out a social mission by releasing an application my midwife free of charge for midwives in remote areas. My midwife became an extension of the hand Halodoc to enter remote areas, the population of midwives in Indonesia is around 240 thousand people.
