Gojek Officially Launches GoPlay's "Video on Demand" Platform

There are two subscription packages per month with a nominal value of Rp. 89.000 and Rp. 99.000

Gojek finally officially introduced GoPlay, platforms video on demand which shows films and series. Its use uses a subscription system with two price options worth Rp. 89.000 and Rp. 99.000.

GoPlay actually launched on a limited basis two months ago. However, with the launch to the public this time, GoPlay confirms that it is serious about touching business video on demand.

"We want to be a platform for filmmakers so that they can use GoPlay as a means of distributing their works to a wider public," said the GoPlay CEO. Edy Sulistyo.

Edy refused to mention the number of videos available on GoPlay. However, he claims that currently there are hundreds of hours of content in the form of films and series that can be accessed on the platform.

Some of them are original content made by GoStudio. GoStudio itself is a separate division under GoPlay in charge of producing content.

Films and series such as Buffalo Boys, Aruna & Lidahnya, Filosofi Kopi The Series, Kata Bocah The Show are examples of films and series produced by GoStudio. In the near future, three new series will be added, namely Tunnel, Saiyo Sakato, and Gossip Girl Indonesia.

"We work closely with the production house. Gojek can expertise in technology and distribution, so we hope to cooperate with production houses that are more expert in making quality films," added Edy.

GoPlay admits that it does not have a target for how much content they will provide on the platform. Instead, he invites other local filmmakers to collaborate to produce a film or series for GoPlay. Starting today, the GoPlay application can be downloaded on the PlayStore and AppStore.

Data from Pusbang Film Indonesia shows that the number of Indonesian viewers continues to increase from year to year. In three years the number of moviegoers in Indonesia moved from 100,6 million (2016) to 108,2 million (2017) and to 129,5 million (2018).

However, audience access to local films is still a problem. This can be seen from the number of local film audiences who are always far behind from foreign films. The same research shows that local films are only selected by 36 percent of the total cinema audience in Indonesia.
