Want to Create Quality Startup Founders, DBS Bank Joins as Mentor Founder Institute

DBS Bank is now a mentor for entrepreneurship training programs Founder Institute. This initiative was chosen because it supports DBS Bank's focus on transforming from a conventional bank into a digital bank with an innovation-oriented startup mindset.

In carrying out their duties as mentors, DBS Bank together with its team of experts engaged in innovation and digitalization will provide guidance to all Founder Institute participants throughout the program until it ends.

"Through the Founder Institute, we want to collaborate with startup founders to share with each other about various startup trends and their supporting ecosystem. We hope that DBS can be a part and contribute to the development of this startup through various innovations offered, including digibank," explained Director of Consumer Banking, DBS Bank. Indonesia Wawan Salum in an official statement.

On a global scale, DBS Bank has established a DBS Innovation Center in Singapore as a center for DBS innovation projects and a forum for 22 DBS employees to conduct research and development of dynamic innovations. DBS Bank also collaborates with global fintech to develop a startup ecosystem, namely Kasisto, SoftToken, local fintech (E2B).

The focus of the seventh batch of Founder Institute

Separately, Director Founder Institute Richie Wirjan said that DBS Bank has now joined as a mentor for the seventh batch of programs that have been running since 2010. For this batch, his party received 1200 registration applications. So far, 81 people have passed from various fields.

"Now [the remaining 81 people who passed] are only 21 startup founders because every week there is an evaluation. [Startup founders] who don't perform, usually they will dropped out own. Batch will be completed in mid-March 2018," explained Richie to DailySocial.

To enter as a Founder Institute participant, continued Richie, all participants who join are required to have passed screening methods through Entrepreneurial DNA Test. The focus of this program is the startup founder himself.

Participants came from various startup companies, some already had ideas but were not 100% sure. There are also those who have been running for 1-2 years but still need more in-depth guidance. In fact, many also join but do not have any ideas at all. They undergo a paid training program that runs for approximately four months.

"Ideas can change, but character and attitude from para founder which we built. Our focus has remained the same since the beginning, wanting to ensure the emergence of the founder quality that can stand the test and create startups that have an impact on many people."

For now, there are five startups that have the highest ratings compared to other participants. The five startups are as follows:

1. Marcopolo.id, a B2B Marketplace site that helps suppliers sell products to buyers in bulk with the Group Buying System

2. SmartBee, a mobile application that helps preschool teachers focus on student development by enabling teachers to share analyses, reports, assessments, and drawings with multiple parents simultaneously. real-time

3. Come on slide, an Android advertising application that helps online brands interact with mobile users directly from the smartphone lock screen with incentives (virtualcash) and surprise gifts

4. Eddemy, a B2B SaaS company that provides a learning management system for schools and enhances collaboration between parents, teachers and students on a single platform using website and mobile applications

5. Napro (Saving Property), platforms through crowdfunding to invest jointly in property.
