Waculiner Expands Coverage, Achieves Positive Growth from B2B and B2G

Focus on catering business and cloud kitchen

Wakuliner, a platform that allows users to easily get food or culinary, claims to have grown rapidly in the last two years. They also announced their expansion to Surabaya and are targeting to become profit company in the third quarter of this year.

CEO Anthony Gunawan to DailySocial told that they are currently focusing on the catering business and cloud kitchen. A number of innovations and adjustments have been made to be able to take the potential of related businesses that are growing in Indonesia.

"We adapt our technology and platform to empower catering kitchens and... cloud to serve our B2B and B2G clients. The business development since the end of 2018 has been very fast. From December 2018 to December 2019 our number of orders increased by 40 times. GMV and revenue we increased 475% from January 2019 to December 2019. In 2020 and during this Covid-19 we continue to grow. Since the beginning of the year until now our revenue has increased by 310%," said Anthony.

Currently it has 13 categories of catering. The total menu in the Wakuliner system also touched 15 thousand menus.

Facing the pandemic, team Waculiner also actively adapt to demand. They developed several new products such as herbal medicine, frozen food, stretch, ready to heat, and others.

"With so many restrictions in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have made many adjustments and adaptations in all departments, such as operational and operational processes supply chain leaders our kitchen, work system work from home for the team, and so on," added Anthony.

Catering services and cloud kitchen in Indonesia today enlivened some names like Kulina, Mealbox, and also Gorry Gourmet. Several other services have also launched online catering service innovations specifically serving healthy food catering, such as only Doogether Food, Lemonilo (marketplace healthy catering), to FIT Gourmet from The FIT Company.

While cloud kitchen, is a concept that began to be applied by Grab and Gojek. In the fourth quarter of last year the two seemed to be competing to bring the concept cloud kitchen to be present in Indonesian cities.

Expansion to Surabaya

Since the beginning of May 2020, Wakuliner's catering services have started to enter the Surabaya city area. As one of the largest cities in Indonesia, Wakuliner tries to meet the food needs of employees of companies in Surabaya.

"Surabaya is the 2nd largest city in Indonesia, so it was an absolute choice for us. There are plans to expand to other cities in 2020 and 2021, and also to ASEAN countries at the end of 2021 and 2022," said Anthony tell us about Wakuliner's next expansion plan.

Anthony also added that by the end of this year they will fully expand to Surabaya (currently only catering services). Because apart from catering, Wakuliner also has a special marketplace for souvenirs and a business buying platform franchise.
