Telkomsel Postpone TCASH's “Spin Off” Plan

The main focus of using TCASH is to help Indonesians who are not yet covered by financial services

Electronic money service belonging to Telkomsel, TCASH, until the end of 2018 there is still no certainty spin-off become a separate company. This was stated by the President Director Telkomsel Ririek Adriansyah, during the event mediagathering national Telkomsel in Lombok, NTB (11/05). Previously there was a discourse that TCASH would be released Telkomsel pada first quarter 2018.

"Indeed, we operate TCASH so that it can stand alone so that later it can be more flexible to develop its business, but we can't say when the plan will be launched."

Ririek added, until now Telkomsel still looking at the developments and regulations set by the government regarding TCASH. Previously, TCASH's plan to be independent from Telkomsel is a strategy to increase the number of registered and active users, outside of users Telkomsel now.

Supporting financial inclusion

As an electronic money service that has been running since 2015, TCASH is claimed to have experienced an increase in the number of users, partners, and merchants collaborating.

“We have also collaborated with BTN which was inaugurated in Malang. This collaboration is to reach more Indonesians to access financial services via cellular phones,” said Ririek.

In addition to establishing partnerships with banks, TCASH, which has obtained an official license from Bank Indonesia, inaugurated the QR Code payment feature. The presence of this feature marks the start of the shift in the company's strategy which previously carried NFC (Near Field Communication) technology as its advantage.

“Besides the QR Code, TCASH is also still implementing payments through EDC machines and applications. All technology owned by TCASH is a plan from Telkomsel to support TCASH."

Other services to be developed Telkomsel for TCASH is the use for payment of government aid funds and other related parties. The process of granting and receiving aid funds is expected to be easier, faster, safer and more transparent.

“Our main focus is to use TCASH to help the unreached Indonesian people with financial services. In accordance with the plan from the president until 2019, so that 72% of Indonesians can be reached by banking services," Ririek concluded.
