Shipper Enters Warehousing Business, Targets Online Sellers

The logistics aggregator startup Shipper has expanded its business to the warehousing area (fulfillment) through his new unit "Shipper Warehouse". This expansion has been running since last year and is now spread in 10 major cities in Indonesia.

To DailySocial, Co-Founder & COO Shipper Budi Handoko explained, this expansion is the company's ambition as a global logistics technology service provider. end-to-end, without losing the company's identity as a logistics aggregator. "We started preparing this warehousing solution in the middle of last year and inaugurated it right at the end of the year," he said.

The reason for the company to enter this sector is because it is considered that there are many challenges in the warehousing system and its role in supporting industrial growth E-commerce. Some of these challenges are structural in nature, some are behavioral, and some are caused by technology.

Budi is quite confident that the solution offered by Shipper is in solving these challenges. Although, he did not elaborate further on what kind of services are offered. “The warehousing and logistics industry as a whole will see very positive growth and we are excited to play a part in that.”

In company blog, explained Gudang Shipper is a hassle-free business solution to facilitate online business operations of various business scales, from SMEs to companies. As a business grows, generally the logistics process will become a challenge in itself.

The concept offered is not much different from what is offered by players fulfillment most. The shipper will take care of logistics activities, starting from storing goods, packing goods according to orders, until sending goods through the selected expedition, all of which have been taken care of at once.

Shipper Warehouse Location has been spread across Jadetabek, Bandung, Surabaya, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo, and Medan. According to Budi, Shipper partners with warehouse provider partners to procure the location, but the entire technology is built by the company itself.

For players e-commerce enablers who have already extended their services to the system fulfillment, there are TokoTalk, Sirclo, GudangAda, and Jet Commerce. From player E-commerce there is a TokoBranch from Tokopedia, Managed by Shopee, following in the footsteps of JD.id, and Lazada who were already there.

Regarding innovation during the pandemic, the company has just been partnered with DANA as a logistics aggregator partner for solutions FUND Delivery. In addition, Budi admitted that currently there has been an increase in logistics demand over the last few months. Although not mentioned in the figures, he claims overall there is faster-than-expected growth on the site E-commerce for category Existing and new.

Shipper itself has been established since 2017 and works with dozens of logistics companies, ranging from JNE, SiCepat, RPX, Popbox, DHL, Aramex, Grab, Gojek, J&T Express, Wahana, Pos Indonesia, TIKI, Lalamove, and many more.

Last June, the new company announced Series A pendanaan funding with an undisclosed amount led by Prosus Ventures, followed by Lightspeed, Floodgate, Y Combinator, Insignia Ventures, and AC Ventures.
