Resso Officially Present, Prioritize the "Social Sharing" Feature

Already released the beta version. Offers a freemium model at a cost of IDR 49 thousand (Android) and IDR 59 thousand (iOS) per month

Resso, the music streaming application by Bytedance which is the parent of TikTok, announced its presence in Indonesia after several months of testing in beta version. The launch is today (11/3), following Resso's official visit to India last week (6/3). These two countries were targeted from the start before Resso was rolled out to other countries.

Country Manager of Resso Indonesia Tricia Dizon explained, Resso was created to revolutionize the way music is listened to which is translated into the appearance and features that are presented. According to him, so far the relationship between music and listeners is still passive.

When the application is opened, they can immediately enjoy the format scroll without limits that will introduce them to new artists and make it easier for fans to find gender and favorite songs.

"Gen Z and millennials are at the core of the features we offer, where music and social networks are central to their daily lives. Our goal is to encourage them and other music lovers to express themselves in interesting and interactive ways," he explained, Wednesday (11/3).

Head of Music Resso Indonesia Christo Putra added, the company is trying to deepen the music category which is divided into: subgenre and gender in order to satisfy the tastes of the listeners. For example, subgenre divided into music gender alternative, experimental, fusion, post rock, indie rock.

While subgenre divided into more specific categories, such as popgaze, bow pop, indie psynch pop, as well ambient. It is not stated in terms of the quantity of the music catalog that has been included in the Resource.

Resso itself continues to strive to complete the music catalog by attracting global, local, indie music labels, as well as music aggregators. They have partnered with a number of names, such as Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, Merlin and Beggars Group, T-Series, Saregama, Zee Music, YRF Music, Times Music, Tips, Venus, Shemaroo, and local labels such as Musica, Aquarius, My Music, Trinity, and Maheswara.

According to the SensorTower report quoted from TechCrunch, Resso is estimated to have been downloaded up to one million times on the App Store and Google Play Store in India and Indonesia. That figure consists of 600 thousand downloads in India and 400 thousand downloads in Indonesia.

Resso's seriousness for the Indonesian market is evidenced by the recruitment of a local team.

The presence of Resso brings new dynamics in the application competition map streaming music. There are four incumbents like Joox, Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music seeking to tap into the same pool as Resso.

With smartphone penetration, internet consumption, and the population of Indonesia's young generation that will continue to grow, the opportunity to attract more users is wide open.

Tricia said that her party is quite optimistic about the strength of the Resso feature which is considered to reflect the consumption pattern of online content in Indonesia. This young generation tends to be expressive, creative, and tends to be more social.

To attract more users, Resso will hold offline concerts to connect musicians more personally with their fans. In addition, within the Resso application itself, it allows musicians to package their music catalog more deeply fresh so fans can interact with the music and introduce their work to new listeners.

Different from sister companieshis company, TikTok, which adheres to the concept of a free application, Resso uses the concept of freemium. Listeners can still listen to music but with a number of feature limitations. Free version punctuated with ads and quality stream only up to 128 kbps.

While the paid version is without ads and quality stream increased to 256 kbps. There is also a download feature, songs can be played in offline conditions, and unlimited skips. The price is Rp. 49 thousand per month for Android and Rp. 59 thousand for iOS. This nominal price is more or less similar to similar applications.

Tricia did not specify the reasons behind the price difference. He said this decision was not taken and applies to Resso only, but also other paid application players.
