Mebiso Makes it Easy for MSMEs to Check and Register Business Marks

More than 54.430 business actors have checked brands on the platform

The intellectual property platform serves as hub centralized management of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. The platform provides a variety of tools and services designed to simplify the process of protecting, monetizing and enforcing rights.

In recent years, the emergence of intellectual property platforms offers a streamlined and efficient approach to intellectual property management. One platform that wants to make it easier for MSME players to get business brand protection in Indonesia is Mebiso.

Based in Surabaya, currently Mebiso users don't only come from East Java, but also in the Greater Jakarta area.

Implement an AI-based system

Mebiso was launched to answer business actors' concerns about minimizing plagiarism during trademark registration. In particular, the company wants to provide business brand protection solutions, from the pre- to post-trademark registration stages online. During pre-registration, business actors can check the brand.

Utilizing AI technology, business owners can obtain analytical results regarding the potential for success during registration and minimize failure in trademark registration. This platform can do that too monitoring and protection of registered brands.

For brand protection, if someone else wants to use a similar name, the original brand owner will be notified via WhatsApp notification to be more alert in taking initial action.

"Checking a brand only takes a moment, no more than five minutes. So, business actors can register their brand immediately. This platform is able to measure the percentage of successful brand registration, avoid similarities in brand names, find out details of comparative brands and analyze brand registration strategies," said CEO of Mebiso Hesti Rosa.

Before it was launched, at least more than 54.430 business actors had used this platform to check brands. Recorded since 2022, this platform contains more than 1,4 million brand data. Then, there are already more than 6.000 brands detected every month. Also, there are more than 58.440 registered brands.

Mebiso claims that the platform they have is a complement to the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) which supports the protection of business brands. The monetization strategy currently being launched by the company is through options subscription or top subscription fees monitoring and brand protection, as well pay per use on brand checking.

"The brand checking process is also transparent, protection is automated and has support from practitioners. Thus, it helps protect brand originality and brand strength," said Hesti.

From Mebiso's monitoring to date there have been more than 82 thousand applications for trademark registration, of which only 62 thousand registrations have been accepted. Meanwhile, the rest were rejected. Not only that, business actors' awareness of trademark registration is also not optimal.

Based on data collected at the end of 2022, in the East Java region, of the tens of thousands of MSMEs, only 10.953 have applied for trademark registration. This opportunity was then used by the company to help more MSMEs register their brands.

“When checking, the potential for success when registering a brand is also shown. "So, business people no longer need to worry and can just sit back at home," said Hesti.

Since its inception, the company has continued to run business consistently bootstrapped. However, in the future the company has plans to raise funds for the initial stage. In 2023, the company also has a target of increasing users, both for checking, monitoring up to double brand protection.
