Getting to know Atnic and JALA as Evolution Blumbangreksa

IoT product developer for shrimp farm

Atnic recently echoed in several startup competitions, one of which won Creative Business Cup 2017 Indonesia, which was held by the Ciputra Entrepreneurship Center. The name sounds new, but actually the debut of this Yogyakarta-based startup is no longer new. Atnic is the name of the company that develops Blumbangreksa, an IoT-based solution for the aquaculture sector.

On progress, Blumbangreksa which is the initial product Atnic also changed to brand new name JALA. The product is currently in the process of finalization and field testing in several areas. JALA itself was developed as an assistant for shrimp farming. The system helps shrimp farmers to monitor water quality and manage shrimp farms through the application.

JALA is an IoT device capable of monitoring water quality in shrimp ponds. This device is designed to be able to solve the problem of shrimp farming by measuring, analyzing and providing all recommendations based on pond water quality conditions. JALA was developed to assist shrimp farmers and improve the response of farmers in maintaining water quality and reducing mishandling in shrimp farming.

"At Atnic there is currently some product research hardware not only in agriculture and aquaculture, but currently we are focusing on the finalization stage of JALA products. We are also developing several other products for shrimp ponds and other aquaculture businesses, but currently the team is focused on finalizing JALA products," said Atnic Co-Founder & VP Product Syauqy Nurul Aziz.

The JALA system itself consists of three parts, the first is a device equipped with sensors to understand dissolved oxygen levels, temperature, pH, salinity, and TDS (Total Dissolved Solid). Then the results of monitoring from these sensors will be processed and the results sent via web applications and SMS. Compared to mobile app, SMS seems to be more efficient for shrimp farmers in the field. In its report, JALA provides information and recommendations to assist farmers in taking appropriate action based on the measured conditions of shrimp pond water quality.

JALA's latest prototype is currently in the process of field testing and has been installed in 53 ponds in Subang, Brebes, Tegal, Purworejo, and Sleman. For the acceleration process, Syauqy also explained that currently Atnic is in the process of discussing with several investors and venture capitalists to invest in the first phase of JALA mass production support. On another agenda, Atnic is also in the middle ramp up program one hardware accelerator and IoT in Hong Kong.

"The shrimp farming industry in Indonesia is currently experiencing many challenges. Unmonitored water quality is the biggest challenge for shrimp farmers which causes productivity to decline every year. This challenge is also an opportunity to increase shrimp farmers' yields with JALA," concluded Syauqy explaining the condition of the aquaculture sector. currently available.
