Grab Announcing the Five Finalist Startups Grab Third Batch Velocity Ventures

Change the theme, according to the conditions faced by the merchant GrabFood during a pandemic

Grab announced the five startup finalists selected in the program Grab Ventures Velocity (GVV) Batch 3. They are Luna POS, KliknClean, Printerous, GetCraft, and Workmate.

In this generation, Grab adjusting its focus to one track, namely the Culinary Business Support Program from the main theme "Empowering Micro Entrepreneurs" and choosing startups that can support culinary business operations and maintain their business with technology.

This adjustment was made due to current conditions, around 80% of startups in Asia and 60% of culinary businesses in Indonesia have been negatively affected by the pandemic. Initially, Grab raised the theme of empowering SMEs, specifically food stalls and B2B logistics.

This announcement was also attended by the Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Teten Masduki, the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate, as well as the management Grab Indonesia, via video conference which was held today (15/5).

Managing Director Grab Indonesia Neneng Goenadi said, in the midst of a pandemic, companies understand that startups also face unexpected impacts. Through the guidance of GVV Batch 3, they are trying to foster startups so they can survive and build a strong business foundation like it is today.

"Through the GVV program, we are trying to make startups have strong businesses and have a positive impact on SMEs through technology," he said.

He said, the five startups were selected after passing through the selection stage. Grab received submissions from more than 100 startups in this batch. These five are experts in various sectors, such as financial management, cleaning solutions, Branding, marketing, and labor solutions that are useful in supporting SMEs in the culinary field.

The five startups, in the next 16 weeks will receive guidance that can strengthen their business models amid the pandemic. The whole process will be carried out automatically online. During the program, startups will test their services to the base merchant GrabFood.

As for now Grab have more than 400 merchant GrabFood. Merchant Those interested can register at Grab which will then be connected to the service from the startup. It is hoped that the services offered can help them improve performance, while reducing operational costs.

Towards the end of the program, the startup will do pitching to Grab. Those who succeed will get the opportunity to collaborate together Grab in the form of a commercial partnership.

“Our objective is to hold a GVV, not looking for startups that we fund. We don't give funding, but rather increase founder capability. After succeeding, they can become businesses with us commercially and into our platform.”

  2. Click Clean: providing total cleaning solutions for culinary businesses to maintain hygiene standards, including cleaning with disinfectants, pest control, and fogging with a disinfectant to prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria.

  3. Printerous: providing printing solutions to meet the printing and packaging needs of the food and beverage business, and creating special designs to strengthen branding efforts such as packaging, paper bags, sticker labels, menus, and others.

    GetCraft: connect para creator selected and quality like an influencer, photographers, designers, writers, and others with culinary businesses who want to create marketing strategies and promote their business. This startup also provides access to articles, latest research, webinars, and trainings that provide a variety of educational content to create leading marketing strategies and campaigns.

  5. workmate: providing digital workforce solutions that give culinary businesses the ability to manage resources and workforce management in one platform.
