Grab and BRI Ventures Officially Opens "Grab Ventures Velocity" Third Wave

Raise the theme of empowering MSMEs, specifically food stalls and B2B logistics

Food stalls and logistics are the chosen themes Grab for the third wave of the program Grab Ventures Velocity (GVV). The huge market potential is the reason they choose these two verticals.

GVV is a proprietary accelerated program Grab which has been running since 2018. Sejasa, BookMyShow, SayurBox, and Qoala are some of the startup names chosen from two waves which has been held.

The large number of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is a fundamental reason why micro businesses in various sectors are opportunities for digital startups. Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki said that warung is one type of micro-enterprise that has a bright future if it is connected to the ecosystem.

"The number of micro-enterprises is 63 million ranging from agriculture, plantations, fisheries to food stalls; however, as the name implies, their businesses are small, in the agricultural sector their land is narrow. So new startups are needed that can be partners for micro-enterprises to be connected in the ecosystem, ' said Teten.

Managing Director Neneng Gunadi added, the increase in the culinary industry and the need for warehousing and delivery to support the business world.

"For the food stall business, the potential is quite large, culinary has become something trendy. Second, logistics is very important in Indonesia. So this year we are targeting those two things," continued Neneng.

Collaborate with BRI Ventures

Grab partnered with BRI Ventures as a strategic partner GVV organizing This year. In this cooperation is good Grab and BRI Ventures both provide funding and facilities to accommodate participants.

"Not only cash, but facilities as well. Ecosystem owned by Grab and the ecosystem owned by BRI, the allocation value is approximately 50-50," said BRI Ventures CEO Nicko Widjaja.

The GVV program is officially open from March 03-31 2020. Just like the previous batch, Grab allowing both domestic and foreign startups to take part in this acceleration program.

And similar before, Grab promising startups that are accepted into this program will get pilot project to peddle their services on the platform Grab. That means the startup has the opportunity to introduce its products to tens of millions of users Grab.

"That's really something, because they can maximize customer our. They can check what the growth will be because the base is really big. They will also receive guidance from C-level startups including from us on how to become unicorn," concluded Grandma.

The third wave of the GVV program is scheduled to last 16 weeks. Party Grab hope that more people will join this program with the assumption that the impact on society will be greater than before.
