Gojek Overhaul Management To Strengthen Financial Business

Yesterday (18/11), Gojek announce changes to management structure C-levels to strengthen the company's two main portfolios, namely the services below Gojek and financial effective as of January 2020.

Co-CEO Gojek will share the work. Kevin Aluwi will lead the service Gojek, while Andre Soelistyo heads the digital and financial payment line. They both remain as Co-CEO Gojek Group. Changes only occur at the operational level of the company, so they do not have an impact on the organizational structure as a group.

“We will continue our role as Co-CEO Gojek Group, but each of us will have more specific scope and responsibilities in the future,” said Kevin and Andre in an official statement.

Andre will lead three business units, namely digital payments (Gopay), financial services such as PayLater, and B2B and merchant.

Both explained, in the development of two large business portfolios below Gojek Group, namely services under the brand Gojek and digital payments & financial services have grown even bigger. Each portfolio requires different skills and focus.

The strengthening of management's focus on these two portfolios was carried out following the company's stronger fundamentals this year. Total GTV inside platform Gojek group reached $12 billion, up 10% from the previous year. Meanwhile, GTV Gopay grew beyond the total transaction value in the pre-pandemic period.

“Therefore, we must optimize our team to maximize the growth of each of these big businesses. [..] Now is a good time to take another look at our business and make sure Gojek can run more optimally so that it will be even more successful in the future.”

Another management line that is also shifting is Hans Patuwo who will head the payment business, previously he served as COO Gojek for nearly three years. Then, Ryu Suliawan will lead the line for B2B solutions and merchant. He previously held the position of Head of Merchants Gojek who is also the Founder of Midtrans, the company payment gateway acquired Gojek in 2017.

Andre, Hans and Ryu will develop a payment line next year, currently the finance business Gojek led by Aldi Haryopratomo as CEO of Gopay who has served for three years. Aldi will step down starting next year, it is not clear where he will be anchored.
