DSResearch Report: Fintech Lending Development Landscape in Indonesia

Conducted a survey of 146 C-level fintech lending companies in Indonesia

Financial technology (fintech) So it is one of the digital businesses that is developing very rapidly in Indonesia. Evidently, to date there are 158 registered with OJK. Not to mention the other players who became enablers or support technology providers.

The rapid development of the ecosystem gave birth to the Indonesian Joint Funding Fintech Association (AFPI) as of last October 2018. The focus is on bridging between players and regulators to create an industrial climate healthy, while working together to increase financial inclusion.

To see business developments in Indonesia, AFPI is collaborating with DSResearch carry out research "Evolving Landscape of Fintech Lending in Indonesia". A total of 146 C-level companies in Indonesia participated in this survey.

The report focuses on 4 main topics, as follows:

  • An overview ; explain the basic concept of service , regulations, governing associations, and the players in each category. Presently, there are four main categories being worked on, including productive, consumptive, and sharia.
  • Profile ; discussing business and consumer profiles . This includes the coverage of the service area, the total funds distributed, to the loan tenors that are widely requested.
  • Business models and landscape; discusses specifically the service model adopted by each player, including exploring the types of services in each category.
  • Technology adoption, risk mitigation and expansion; explore the approach taken by each player to educate the market, mitigate return risk, apply technology to improve services, and disburse funds channels.

Some interesting findings from the survey include, the productive category has the largest number of players, namely 57 specific players and 48 players who are both productive and consumptive loan accommodations. Consumer loans are the most sought after by workers (full time) and MSMEs (non-digital). In addition, there are many other interesting things revealed in the survey.
