HR-Tech Karun's Different Approach to Tackle the “Tech-Talent War”

Karun has secured pre-primary funding with an undisclosed amount from REAPRA in April 2022

As long as the gap between supply and demand persist, talent war will continue to happen in order to get the best job candidates. The gap becomes the work of all stakeholder. Karun is a newcomer among startup HR-tech. This startup pioneered by William Jakfar has the ambition to participate in solving problems "tech-talent war" this in its own way. Although William is not a HR background, he has a kind of philosophy of life that wants to help others to the best of his ability. Previously, he had deep experience as a digital marketing and worked at Bytedance in the position of SMB Partner Manager.

“I founded Karun and explored the industry HR/recruitment to help talents who feel helpless with all its limitations, but has a high fighting power," he told DailySocial.id.

Karun itself is taken from the word "karuna" from Sanskrit which means compassion (compassion / compassion).

Job Review Platform

Karun was founded earlier this year, by providing two products, namely the platform ReviewWork and services for employer branding. The ReviewKerja platform itself was just launched in early September, as a place for salary comparisons, review, forums, and job vacancies, for technology talent in Indonesia.

Companies can enter vacancies into the platform and maintain employer branding-through a digital agency service managed by Karun. If you know the Glassdoor platform, ReviewKerja has the same concept. "Service employer branding This ensures the company remains relevant and becomes the top choice of talent with strategy digital branding right."

William's initiation by releasing Work Review wanted to accomplish three things, namely “the great resigned”, height tech-talent turnover with a global average of 21,35%, and the magnitude of the need tech-talent to support the digital economy in the next decade. In the industry itself, salary comparison sites and company reviews in general already exist, but ReviewKerja positions itself specifically for digital talent.

This platform was created specifically to support careers in technology, specifically IT, data, and product by accessing salary, review workplaces in startups and corporates, while safely networking via anonymous forums. "Imagine Glassdor + Stack Overflow having a baby in Indonesia," he said.

William continued, “The career navigation of new and senior IT professionals is highly dependent on salary information and review work, but this information is limited and only circulated by word of mouth.”

In carrying out its monetization, Karun enforces fee for job posting services, head-hunters IT personnel, and services custom employer branding services, including digital branding so that the company becomes the candidate's first choice. Meanwhile, the community forum on the platform is free for IT professionals.

The company has been supported with pre-early external funding with an undisclosed nominal in April 2022. The funds came from a VC from Singapore named REAPRA. William explained that the funds were used to fund the company's operations, while finding product-founder-market-fit. In Karun's operations, William is assisted by three internal and one part timer.

Karun will also focus on increasing the number of users in the next few months, considering that ReviewKerja was only released this month. “We have explored partnerships for recruitment and employer branding with several companies in Indonesia," he concluded.
