The Indonesian government targets the PDP Law to come into force in October 2024

PRIVASIMU, the Personal Data Protection (PDP) platform, officially launched its presence on Sunday (28/1). PRIVASIMU offers solutions for companies in meeting compliance Law Number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP).

"Some companies are still confused determine what must be prepared to implement the PDP Law which will come into effect in October 2024. "The launch of PRIVASIMU is expected to help companies in implementing the PDP Law," said PRIVASIMU Founder Awaludin Marwan in his official statement.

YOUR PRIVACY is a subsidiary startup in the field of legal education HeyLaw, which was founded in 2020 by Awaludin, a technology law observer. The claim is that PRIVASIMU is the first platform in Indonesia dedicated to personal data security.

The platform was developed by a combination of expert consultants in the IT field from legal aspects, IT governance, to security and cyber. These consultants are recorded as having been involved in drafting PDP regulations, such as the PDP Law, Draft Government Regulation (RPP) on Personal Data Protection, to Data Protection Officer (DPO) competency standards.

This platform is known to serve businesses in various sectors, from finance, health, government and corporations which often involve personal data with the aim of protecting businesses from various potential data leaks by being fully committed to data protection and data security practices.

He believes that the security of company operational data continues to be a crucial need, especially amidst the development of the internet ecosystem and the use of AI. His party is trying to accommodate the challenges of this era big data, in accordance with data security policies.

Please note, the PDP Law was passed in 2022, but only took full effect in October 2024 due to the transition process. In the last two years, allegations of violations of personal data law have continued to increase. According to data revealed by the Institute for Community Studies and Advocacy (Elsam), there are around 668 million personal data whose disclosure is suspected to violate the law.

Of the total figure, 44 million personal data is thought to have come from the MyPertamina application, 15 million from the Bank Syariah Indonesia/BSI case, 35,9 million from MyIndiHome, 35,9 million from the Directorate General of Immigration, 337 million from the Ministry of Home Affairs, 252 million from leak of the KPU election list information system.
