There are fundamental reasons why SaaS services still have a large market share and potential. The development trend of startups and SMEs in Indonesia continues to increase. According to data from the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, currently there are more than 57 million MSMEs from various sectors throughout Indonesia. These business units contribute to 60% of the national GDP.

One of the characteristics of an SME or startup – especially in the early stages – is a lean team. To take care of administrative matters such as staffing or taxation, sometimes they choose to use the services of a third party, instead of recruiting staff in that department. The presence of SaaS is very helpful, because various activities can be simplified and carried out by one or two people.

The nature of cloud computing-based services that tend to be flexible in use – usually paid as per usage – also makes SMEs not have to invest big upfront, but adjust to the scale of the business and its growth.

SaaS's broad market share is also supported by the development of adoption smartphone internet and other computing tools.
