Antler's "Startup Generator" Program Launches in Indonesia in 2020

Want to produce quality and experienced entrepreneurs, plans to provide mentorship and investment to 20 Indonesian startups

Founded in 2017 in Singapore, Antler as generator startup planning to invest while helping candidates entrepreneur and startup founders develop their startups in Indonesia. Still in the stage of searching for qualified individuals, Antler plans to make it official batch first in Indonesia in 2020.

Managing Partner Antler Jussi Salovaara revealed that the program launched by his company is different from the incubation or accelerator program that has been widely developed globally.

Focusing on individuals who have a vision, experience, and supportive work and educational background, Antler wants to help them build a healthy business and minimize failure when setting up a startup.

"Not only did it help them set up relevant startups, the program that Antler brought to them also helped them create a less expensive business mainstream and try to provide the right solutions and business opportunities."

Antler has a plan to help 20 Indonesian startups annually by providing support to startup founders to form the right team, providing funding for the initial stages (pre-seed and seed), and provide access to platforms to networks globally.

Antler will invest $100 thousand per startup.

Antler will also provide the form grant or pocket money every two months to participants who take part in the program. Those who succeed will follow a follow-up program over the next few months focused on launching and starting to grow their company with support from mentors, advisors and VCs. Not only supported by foreign mentors, Antler is also supported by qualified Indonesian mentors, including GDP Venture CEO Martin Hartono and Blue Bird President Director Noni Purnomo.

Currently Antler has spread across 8 locations, namely Singapore, London, New York, Sydney, Stockholm, Oslo, Nairobi and Amsterdam. Since its first program in Singapore in 2018, Antler claims to have produced more than 80 new technology companies.

Targeting former unicorn startup employees

Two examples of startups graduating from the Antler program are side who have received early stage funding from Golden Gate Ventures and Base which has obtained seed funding from East Ventures and Skystar Capital. These two startups have one thing in common, namely the founders were once employees of a unicorn startup Gojek.

According to Jussi, one of the profiles of potential Antler program participants is having experience working at a well-known startup or having a background experience of working in corporations and large companies.

"I see graduates or former employees of unicorn startups as participants with the most potential. As proven by Wisnu Nugrahadi (Sampingan) and Yaumi Fauziah Sugiharta (Base) who previously worked at Gojek."
