Edutech Startup Story MauBelajarWhat When Appointed as a Pre-Employment Card Program Partner

Asked to be a partner to adjust to opening an online training class

The pre-employment card program has caused a lot of polemic in the community. One of the highlights is the quality of the content and the price set. Both are considered irrelevant, not even a few are equated with free content on YouTube.

We spoke with Jourdan Kamal as founder MauBelajarApa, one of the platforms that is the official partner of the pre-employment card program; to find out how the process goes behind the appointment and of course about the quality of the content and the price of the training offered.

Jourdan explained, from the beginning his party was contacted by the Presidential Staff Office. They explained that they were looking for a platform to provide training. Long story short, in December 2019, MauBelajarApa was asked to become a partner.

For your information, Want to LearnWhat is a platform that curates various forms of workshops or training online offline or face to face. But because of a request from the government, they innovated a little by opening online-based classes using the platform video conference such as Zoom, Hangout, and others.

"So, actually, this pre-work was when we wereapproach they (the government) want the focus offline. But because of the Covid-19 pandemic and they thought that instead of being postponed again, the pre-employment card was finally changed to online for the meantime. Because people really want to be able to learn immediately and get incentives, to help recipients of pre-employment cards too, right? If later delay incentives too delay' said Jordan.

Regarding why the implementation of the training is carried out online also confirmed by government through a publication on the official website of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, that this online training is only temporary. When the pandemic ends training offline will also run.

Platform, price and quality of content

MauBelajarApa has been a platform for curating workshops or training for more than three years. When asked as partners for the pre-employment card, they stated that they still brought their standard, that the training must be in accordance with existing standards or those that have been carried out so far.

Jourdan said that there were two layers of curation. The first is internal curation by themselves and the second is from the pre-employment card team. This curation doesn't only talk about content, but also price. Because the government urges the price not to be too high for the training offered to pre-employment card holders.

"I often talk to vendors related to prices, because this also helps the government, right. But there are indeed some vendors who can't lower their prices, some can but not very cheap ones (under 100 thousand Rupiah) because they are already professional and The price for their class outside (MauBelajarApa) or in the corporate class is also high," said Jourdan.

Jourdan added, MauBelajarApa is different from other learning platforms. Because basically this platform bridges training offline, so the core of learning is not only video material, but also mentoring and sharing experiences from the mentor/teacher/or workshop filler. Even connections with teachers or mentors can be continued after class. Something that sets MauBelajarApa apart from other learning platforms.

He also claims that his company never messes with quality. He himself ensures that every class on his platform is a class created by professionals and people who are experienced in their fields.

"For example, a cooking class, let's say cheese chicken. Later participants will not only get a tutorial on how to cook it. But also experience from Headabout how to be Head the right one, where to get the necessary ingredients, cooking techniques, and other knowledge," continued Jourdan.

The polemic on the price and quality of content on the pre-employment partner platform has also reached Jourdan's ears. He said it was a choice. So if it's too expensive or too easy, you don't have to take the class. He is also open to all existing assessments. However, he and his team are committed to presenting quality classes, that's why he only opens classes with limited slots.

"We have a limit, for example 20 people. So these 20 people are welcome to give rating. So for example there is a quality that can't be done reviewed. If review It's good that the slots will be added, but still within the limits of the ability of the mentor or teacher to handle the class," continued Jourdan.

He also added that he wasn't just focused on training hard skills, but also mindset and experience from professionals. That's why he always looks for experienced mentors or from professionals who have actually been in the industry.

The community's sharp spotlight, the right moment for evaluation

Social media in the past week has been boisterous with various kinds of public responses regarding pre-employment cards. Not only MauBelajarApa, other platforms were also highlighted. From another point of view, this is the right moment for evaluation. Both about the concept of online learning itself and the readiness of the Indonesian market.

This could be the right moment to formulate what learning should look like online it happened. Considering that the focus of this pre-employment card program is skills, so if successful in this program, it can later be implemented for the general public.

Yesterday's fanfare was the first wave of acceptance of pre-employment cards. Evaluation has become an obligation, both for organizer as well as the participants. As well as starting to be more stringent in the selection and curation process, and for the participants, they must really be alone before choosing an institution and training title.
