TIX ID Releases "Watch Online", Movie Rental Aggregator Service on Google Play Movies and Apple TV

Already monetized, not part of pivot

Cinema ticket provider startup TIXID developed the latest feature "Watch Online", a movie rental service found on Google Play Movies and Apple TV. This feature was only released last month and is claimed to have received a good response from users.

To DailySocialTIX ID CEO Sean Kim explained, this feature is part of the company's expansion plan to provide users with a more comprehensive movie experience. "This is just a small step, we can show the bigger picture at the end of the year," he explained.

Watch Online is part of the company to survive amidst the still closed cinemas since the pandemic, which has been TIX ID's biggest business. Company partnered with The Movie Database (TMDb) as an API provider that aggregates TIX ID with the movie catalog found on Google Play Movies and Apple TV.

TMDb itself is community-built films and TV. They have a free API to programmatically access information about movies. TIX ID provides curation for the best selection of movies that can be purchased or rented and watched online online through the user's device.

Sean calls this feature one of the company's ways to monetize. In short, TIX ID will get a commission from every customer traffic which they managed to bring to Google and Apple. "We built this to create synergy with cinemas when they reopen."

He also confirmed that this feature is not a pivot for the company. The reason is, apart from watching movies, TIX ID's business source is also supported by the sale of cinema tickets at Drive-In Senja, which adheres to the concept of watching movies from inside the car as well as adapting to new habits.
