Tinkerlust Updates Business Strategy, Books Funding in Early 2020

Focus on becoming a "sustainable fashion" platform, collaborate with local brands to enrich products

A platform that sells fashion products and accessories second hand or pre-loved Tinkerlust formulates a new business strategy. Now they are intensifying products based on "sustainable fashion" and establish strategic collaborations with brand local. The large amount of waste generated from the fashion industry is one of their concentrations. The goal is also to educate the public.

Tinkerlust Co-Founder & CEO Samira Shihab reveals, movement sustainable fashion this has previously been very familiar launched in Europe. Through the Tinkerlust platform, it is hoped that this activity can be introduced to the wider Indonesian community.

"With this new business model, it is hoped that Tinkerlust pioneer platform sustainable fashion. Still consistent with the company's target of a platform for women and now adding new partnerships with local brands," said Samira.

Since its founding in 2015, Tinkerlust has owned around 200 thousand monthly active users (WANT TO). Still using website As a transaction platform, Tinkerlust has no plans to launch the app yet. To make it easier for sellers and buyers to partners to access the platform, Tinkerlust makes the UI/UX interface as simple as possible.

Although currently there are many platforms that sell similar products, not many of them specifically focus on the female target market.

Model bisnis fashion commerce growing rapidly in Indonesia. For example, what is presented by Style Theory, instead of selling, they present a mechanism for renting branded fashion products. Some retailers finally too go-online, as Metrox Group did by presenting Onmezzo or Matahari with its digital platform.

"Local Heroes" fundraising and campaign

After pocketing funding from Merah Putih Inc and angel investors Danny Oei Wirianto with an undisclosed value in 2017, early 2020 Tinkerlust has booked new funding. It was not stated further how much the funding was worth and who were the investors involved, but Samira said she was quite grateful that the funding was completed before the pandemic.

"In January 2020, we just finished raising funds. Fortunately, the process was completed before the spread of Covid-19. For further fundraising, we don't have a plan yet," said Samira.

To mark their new business strategy, Tinkerlust will be launching a "Local Heroes" campaign. In this campaign, the company invites brand local people who share a shared vision to collaborate together to sell their products on Tinkerlust. About 14 brand local have joined, and have collaborated to hold a series of events such as virtual fashion shows and fashion talk shows. On this occasion TMRW by UOB and also Makeover supports action from Tinkerlust as exclusive partners.

"Tinkerlust wants to create a more fashion room sustainable by educating our loyal consumers through collaboration with local brands that have environmentally friendly collections. This is one form of contribution in reducing fashion waste because these products can be used for a long time," added Tinkerlust Co-Founder & COO Aliya Amitra.
