The Storyline: Travel Notes Gojek and Tokopedia to Become GoTo

The Storyline is a new report variant of DSInnovate, displays a record of important moments about the journey of a startup. In the first series, the story about Gojek and Tokopedia were appointed.

As you know, at the moment Gojek and Tokopedia have merged into a single entity company named “Goto" But a decade ago, long before both startups made the list unicorn world, they started as a small startup with a limited range of services.

Tokopedia started in 2009 as a C2C marketplace, while Go-Jek was started in 2010 as call center motorcycle taxi booking service -- at that time it only accommodated 20 motorcycle taxi drivers.

The initial investment obtained by the two companies played an important role, becoming a fuel to build a more robust and integrated technology system.

Tokopedia launches version mobile devices one year later and managed to book more than 4 billion transactions. Temporary Gojek just released app native on Android and iOS platforms in 2015.
