The 32nd Hero of Overwatch, Echo, is Equipped with a Series of Unique Abilities

Possibly he is the last hero for Overwatch until Overwatch 2 is released.

In the midst of waiting for Overwatch sequel, half of fans may also feel anxious. The new game from scratch designed to integrate with the first Overwatch so that progress is not lost and gamer in both titles can play together in PvP mode. But we don't know yet what the implementation will be and how effective the strategy of 'uniting' these two games will be.

Apart from focusing on the development of Overwatch 2, we know developer also promise to continue to enrich the content game which has existed. In November 2018, Blizzard published a short animated film called Reunion. There, they introduces two new characters. Shortly after, a character named Ashe became playable, but it took Echo over a year to become available on game. In fact, he had appeared in trailer Overwatch 2.

This week, game director Jeff Kaplan reports that the Echo is finally playable. Echo is one of the hero Overwatch is the most unique, and that's why Blizzard took so long to brew it. Echo can already be tested in the Public Test Region, but it seems developer do not want to rush to present it on a standard server. Kaplan said his team would immediately modify the Echo if it found anything that could upset the balance of the game.

Contrary to previous expectations, Echo was designed as hero damage. But he also has many abilities that make him very unique, one of which is the ability to fly/float like Pharah or Mercy. And the most special thing is ultimate skills titled Replicate. By activating it, Echo can imitate hero enemy and can access all of his abilities (including ultimate skills). That means the Echo gives players ample opportunity to adapt to the situation.

Through the video, Jeff Kaplan tells a little about this character's background. Echo was made by a researcher from Singapore, Dr. Mina Liao, with the ability to observe, learn and imitate. Liao is a robotics and AI expert, working for the Omnica Corporation until the outbreak of the Omnic crisis. He was immediately recruited by Overwatch as soon as the incident began, but lost his life in an attack.

Having studied the characteristics and habits of Liao, Echo was forced to quarantine because Overwatch was worried that the technology could be misused and the entire development project was stopped. Echo was finally reactivated by Jesse McCree, the person who had been assigned to protect Liao, because Overwatch needed help (you can see it in the animated film Reunion).

Jeff Kaplan said that it was possible that Echo was hero last released for Overwatch until the sequel was released. Character launch chronology game it's been a bit confusing lately: Ocho was introduced with Ashe, but after that Blizzard released Baptiste and Sigma, positioning Echo as hero 32nd Overwatch.
