Sikremut, Not Just a Commuter Train Schedule

After Pursuit, schedule information service is also provided by Sikremut (Commuter Train Information System). The difference is, if Nyepur is an application websites, Sikremut comes in the form of an Android application. Sicremut created by Luminascape, a group of students from the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Indonesia.

Luminascape, the maker of this application, consists of Ardi Al Haidar, Ade Kurniawati, Yasmin Khairina, Mira Roderica, Fitria Nila Kanti, Radityo Eko, and Wanda Kinasih. The Sikremut project, which was originally just a college assignment, they tried to turn into an application that can be enjoyed by Jabodetabek commuter train users.

To make Sikremut the choice among a wide selection of applications that provide commuter train schedule information services, Luminascape is trying to develop different features. In addition to train schedule information, Sikremut also features a map of KRL stations, features of the nearest station using GPS, and filters alarm marker. The station map feature allows users to know the position of the station on the map as well as the route or train line that passes through that route. Train routes are displayed in different colors to make it easier for users to see.

The nearest station feature is used to find the nearest station as well as to find a route to the station from the user's location. While the features alarm marker, will remind the user, if it is within a radius of 300 m from the destination station.

According to Ardi Al Haidar, in an interview via Email, Luminascape is still planning further development of the Sikremut application. They will make BlackBerry and Nokia versions of this application. In terms of features, they hope to work directly with PT KAI Commuter, to get information if at any time there is a schedule change. With this collaboration, Luminascape hopes to develop features live tracker so that users, can check the location of the train directly realtime.
