Halodoc Obtained Series B+ Investment from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Prudential and Allianz X

In total it has pocketed almost $100 million worth of investment

Startups healthtech Halodoc announced Series B+ funding of an undisclosed amount from three strategic investors namely the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Allianz X and Prudential. This fresh fund will be used to continue the company's commitment to simplify services through technology in Indonesia.

Both Allianz and Prudential are global insurance companies that have been operating in Indonesia for a long time. Both of them have become users of the service Halodoc. While the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is one of the largest philanthropic foundations in the world, founded by Microsoft Co-Founder Bill Gates and his wife.

Previous, at the beginning of this year, the company has announced a series B funding round led by UOB Venture Management of $65 million (approximately 919 billion Rupiah). Other investors who participated in this round were Singtel Innov8, Korea Investment Partners, and Wuxi AppTec.

in total, Halodoc has raised almost $100 million (approximately IDR 1,4 trillion). This includes investors from the previous round, namely Go-Ventures, BliBli, Openspace Ventures, and Investidea.

In an official statement, CEO Halodoc Jonathan Sudharta explained that the entry of this strategic investor will help the company improve the quality and number of health service options available to Indonesians who live outside big cities and outside Java.

These locations are currently considered not to have adequate health service infrastructure. Together with investors, the company is committed to creating new initiatives so that Indonesians can access health services more easily.

"Halodoc determined to learn from the track record of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has long worked with partners to provide the best healthcare solutions and improve the quality of life around the world."

Allianz X Investment Director Carsten Middendorf also added that this investment underscores the company's commitment to highlighting transformative businesses in emerging markets and providing affordable insurance for underserved communities.

"We look forward to working with Halodoc across multiple verticals and helping to strengthen their operations and network in the broader Southeast Asian market," said Middendorf.

Allianz will strengthen the 24x7 digital healthcare and healthcare ecosystem within the application Halodoc.

Halodoc has three main products, namely Inter Pharmacy that has served 50 cities throughout Indonesia, Lab Services to make it easier for users to check their health either at home or at the office, and Call a Doctor to interact with doctors online. Apart from retail, the company is also starting to expand to corporate customers.

on average, Halodoc serving around 7 million patients per month throughout Indonesia, with 80% of patients located outside the main cities, namely Jakarta and Surabaya.

Inside the app Gojek, Halodoc also provides doctor consultation services via chat for free.
