Populix Gets Pre-Series A Funding Worth 17,3 Billion Rupiah Led by Intudo Ventures

Already have 250 thousand survey respondents spread over 300 cities

Startup developer of market research platform Populix today (29/4) announced the acquisition of pre-series A funding of $1,2 million or equivalent to 17,3 billion Rupiah. This round was led by Intudo Ventures, the lead investor initial funding in 2019; and supported by Quest Ventures and a number of other investors whose details were not disclosed.

The company will use the fresh funds to launch new products, strengthen marketing, and recruit new talent. Over the past year, the company has updated its "Populix for Business" service through a new application featuring UI/UX improvements to make it easier for clients to get more information about the research projects being carried out.

Through the new app, Populix has ambitions to become a "one-stop shop" for businesses to conduct research and gain consumer insights. On the other hand, Populix is ​​also developing dataset products to regularly track market movements -- enabling businesses to closely follow consumer dynamics and preferences.

To support data collection, the Populix app can now recognize charges (e.g. from purchases at e-commerce) respondents with technology optical character recognition or scanning notes through the camera, is rated for accuracy up to 93%. The concept of collecting data through purchase receipts is not new, before there were startups Pomona who do something similar to help brand understand the customer.

Founded in January 2018, Populix is ​​present as a mobile application that supports research activities. The general public can download the application and act as respondents. Each successfully completed survey has certain points and credits earned. Populix claims to have had 250 thousand respondents spread across 300 cities in Indonesia.

In addition to quantitative research activities, Populix also supports businesses conducting qualitative research. Their business services offer subscription services, do brand tracking on a regular basis to understand public perception. Populix has also started serving the SME segment by providing more affordable packages.

Not only Populix, a similar service is also offered by a startup from Yogyakarta named Jakpat. Using the application and gamification approach, they invite the general public to be respondents in a survey according to their criteria/profile.
