Pegipegi Starts Opening Funding Options from Outside Parties

OTA company Pegipegi revealed that it has begun to open funding options from outside parties to strengthen its existence in the midst of intense competition in the OTA market in Indonesia. At this time, it is stated that they are still in the early stages so that the investors have not yet been determined.

"We are starting to open options for accepting investment from outside parties, but we are just chatting, so we still can't do it open Yes or no [accept the investment] because that will determine our strategy going forward," explained Deputy CEO of Pegipegi Ryan Kartawidjaja, Tuesday (5/12).

According to him, it is possible that PegiPegi's parent company, Recruit Holdings, will release some of its share ownership to new investors. Although he opened the option, Ryan did not provide more details when the investment realization began.

Ryan's statement, shifted from previous interview with Pegipegi CEO Takeo Kojima. Takeo previously said that Recruit Holdings is fully committed to continuing to invest funds. Because of this commitment, Pegipegi did not open up opportunities to invite investors from outside parties.

Currently Pegipegi claims to have doubled overall growth compared to the previous year. The highest contributor came from the hotel ticket booking business, followed by plane and train tickets. Most transactions are made from the PegiPegi application with a contribution of around 70%-80%.

The five cities most searched for by Pegipegi users are Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Bali and Surabaya. These five cities contribute almost 50% of all PegiPegi business.

For next year, Pegipegi targets to double this year's growth. One way to do this is by launching flight tickets for overseas routes, rebranding new logo, and pointing brand ambassador Pevita Pearce.
