Announce New CEO, PegiPegi Ambitious To Be The Best OTA Player in Indonesia

It is claimed that half of the total daily transactions are "repeat orders"

In the midst of the onslaught of the travel business landscape, which is now also being carried out by e-commerce players, it makes players online travel agents (OTA) must prioritize strategies to improve the experience of loyal consumers. This step is now being carried out by PegiPegi.

Pegipegi also announced the presence of a new CEO, Takeo Kojima, who is still an executive of Recruit Holdings. Takeo replaces Hideki Yamada who has only served for one year.

Although it often changes, Deputy CEO PegiPegi Ryan Kartawidjaja ensures that Takeo's leadership will support the company's ambition to become the best OTA player in Indonesia.

"Takeo has experience in IT, Online marketing, as well as strong in data analysis. This can be a good combination for strength PegiPegi in the future, because 2017 is an important year for us," he said, Wednesday (14/6).

This year, PegiPegi targets transaction growth to double compared to the previous year's 250% growth. It is hoped that the transaction contribution will come from the Eid moment, which is targeted to grow more than 300% compared to the same moment in the previous year.

"We will also improve services during the Lebaran moment, working hours customer service (CS) is increasing so that consumers will be better served. We can be contacted through various mediums, ranging from telephone, e-mail, BBM, Line, Whatsapp, Live Chat, and others."

Improving customer service, according to Takeo, is one of the company's ways in dealing with intense competition online travel. It believes in expertise the team has, and the relationships built with partners are the company's strengths to increase the number of transactions.

"From our daily transactions about 50% come from repeat orders, the rest from new consumers. This is proof that consumers come back because they believe in the services we provide. We will continue to increase this percentage figure," said Takeo.

It is also committed to continuing to increase the inventory of domestic and international hotels and airlines. It is claimed that currently PegiPegi has been directly connected to more than 7.500 hotels, the majority consisting of two- and three-star hotels, but also budget hotels to five-star hotels.

In addition, there are a choice of 20 thousand flight routes with seven airlines, and 1.600 train routes.

The main contributor of PegiPegi transactions came from hotel room reservations, then the second position came from airplane tickets, and finally from train tickets.

"Since the beginning of PegiPegi's existence, core his business is booking hotel rooms. Currently we are still our main contributor, the smallest of train tickets because it is still new, last year it was launched."

Do not open investment from outside

Takeo said to support PegiPegi's business in Indonesia, Recruit Holding as the 'parent' of the company is committed to continuously injecting investment funds. It's just that Takeo's value is reluctant to reveal it in more detail.

Due to this commitment, PegiPegi does not open up opportunities for outside investors, especially venture capital companies.

"Since PegiPegi was founded, we have always received funding from holding just. It doesn't open up opportunities for other investors to enter."

When asked whether PegiPegi has made a profit or not, Takeo replied that currently the company's expenses are still greater than revenues. However, every year the percentage of comparison between the two is claimed to be getting thinner. He is optimistic that in the next few years, PegiPegi can become a profitable company.

"Expenditures are still greater than income, but getting there [profit] because now the amount of expenditure is decreasing every year. We hope this year and in the future it will be better," he concluded.
