Google Trend Indonesia data shows that the search for online courses, online training, and online workshops has suddenly spiked sharply since March 2020 until now. This is the impact of the pandemic. People choose to stay at home and decide to take online classes to fill their time at home to improve competence.

DailySocial with platform mobile surveys JakPat conducted a survey to 1447 respondents to find out which activities or activities the community carried out the most. The result is mostly self-development by taking courses or online training.

There are 59,7% of our total respondents who have at least participated in online activities or methods for self-development in the field of hard skills, like studying coding, study design, and other things. 51% of them also at least participate in events or activities related to their hobbies or interests.

Not only that, personality development is also one of the activities carried out. There are 43% of the total respondents who have done it at least once, for example taking a course on leadership, public speaking, etc. There are also those who take the time to learn a foreign language (35%).

The habit of transacting online facilitates monetization in this sector. 42,5% of respondents are willing to spend money to participate in these online activities. The rest participated in the event which was held for free. The majority (44%) of them allocate IDR 50.000 to IDR 100.000 per month for the “online learning” budget, while 11,3% are willing to allocate IDR 250.000 to IDR 500.000.

From the consumer/society perspective, the urge to study online or enjoy the day online is increasing. According to the survey results, 40% of respondents really want to do online activities and 39% are quite willing.

The trend of online activity in society opens up new opportunities in various industry lines.
