OnlinePajak Implement Blockchain, Help Realize Tax Transparency

Transparency and trust are the two main things in the tax system

Not many people know, the OnlinePajak application allows people to calculate, report, and deposit taxes online. This service can be said as a third party application or alternative for tax solutions.

OnlinePajak has a new effort to realize its mission of simplifying the administrative process that has been complicated so far. OnlinePajak adopts blockchain technology to increase transparency in the tax payment system in Indonesia.

The announcement of the blockchain implementation was inaugurated last Friday (27/4/) and was also attended by a number of figures, such as the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Rudiantara, Secretary General of the Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI) Steven Suhadi, and tax observer Yustinus Prastowo.

In his remarks, Founder & Director of OnlinePajak Charles Guinot said that blockchain technology can guarantee transparency not only for the community, but also for the government system.

"The main problem in the tax system so far is trust. They always wonder whether the tax paid has been recorded or not. Just like when they want to buy property, they don't know whether the property tax has been paid by the previous owner or not," said Guinot.

The tax payment system involves a number of parties, starting from the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT), the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb), Bank Indonesia (BI), perception banks, and other third parties.

In this case, the parties involved above will have a record of every tax payment transaction and can check each other's tax payments continuity. Meanwhile, the confidentiality of taxpayer data is guaranteed.

Furthermore, the Minister of Communication and Information, Rudiantara, expressed his hope that blockchain technology can be widely adopted, not only for government circles but also for corporations. According to him, this will provoke other sectors to also adopt blockchain.

"After all, people don't want to know what technology is, for them it's complicated. What's important is that the benefits are highlighted as well. I hope this technology can be adopted for other affairs in the corporation, because if this (OnlinePajak) is successful, other sectors will follow suit," he said. this man who is familiarly called Chief RA.

Similar support was expressed by the Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI), which was just officially established. This association has a vision to proactively encourage its implementation considering that blockchain implementation is still very green here.

"This is just the beginning, but we hope to continuously educate the government on blockchain, what are the benefits that can be obtained from this technology," said Steven Suhadi.

Potency Tax Payer Baru

Rudiantara also emphasized the positive impact of implementing blockchain on the tax payment system. For example, encouraging business actors over-the-top (OTT) to pay taxes, including middle class business actors (SMEs) who have the potential to become new taxpayers.

"On Go-Jek, the number of driverhow many are there? Seller It's the same at Tokopedia, including the SME class. They are not tax objects, but new tax participants. Blockchain is a solution to find new processes to make it easier for people [to pay taxes]," he added.

Tax observer Yustinus Prastowo added that blockchain technology is now considered a solution to simplify the tax system that is considered complicated.

"Our current challenge is tax ratiotax payerthere are a lot but the cakes that are taken are small. We have 50 million potentialtax payer, but 30 million that just signed up. There are still 20 million people who have the potential to become tax payer. Why is that? Because of the problem trust, said Justin.

The implementation of blockchain, according to Yustinus, is expected to encourage transparency so that people have more confidence in the current tax system. In other words, the state can get tax payer more.
