OLX Indonesia Reveals User Achievements and Trends in First Quarter 2016

Including the trend of hobbies and job vacancies that are increasingly widespread

Services classified online OLX Indonesia again gave an explanation about the latest trends, number of transactions and features in today's media gathering at Conclave Jakarta. Attended by OLX Indonesia CEO Daniel Tumiwa and OLX Indonesia CMO Edward Kilian Suwignyo, they discussed what has happened and has been achieved by OLX in Indonesia.

As a classifieds site that always facilitates the buying and selling needs of the Indonesian people, OLX has noted several new trends that have only occurred specifically at OLX. This is what we then try to inform the media, sellers, and OLX users in the country.

"Internally, we see that OLX Indonesia has experienced a fairly good increase. However, it cannot be denied that there are also some points that have decreased, but overall we are quite satisfied with the progress and monetization that has been carried out in the first quarter of 2016," said Daniel who also is the Chairman of idEA.

New trend of OLX users

Regarding the transactions that have been successfully obtained during the first quarter of 2016, OLX Indonesia recorded an increase of 18%, namely 1,6 million transactions per month. This growth occurred in various categories which were spread fairly evenly in Indonesia.

"If previously it was dominated by users in Jakarta only, now many users in South Sulawesi, Central Java, South Kalimantan, Yogyakarta, and others are starting to actively use OLX," said Edward.

OLX noted that the number of active users rose to 20 million people per month and the number of sellers rose to more than 900 thousand people per month. In addition to the increasing number of users, the number of ads installed on OLX also increased by 20% to 4,8 million ads every month.

Another trend noted by OLX is the emergence of classified ads offering job vacancies for certain positions, such as cashier, warehouse keeper, and other jobs in the informal sector.

It was recorded that 40 thousand job vacancies were published on OLX and 32 thousand of these advertisements were immediately responded to by applicants who saw firsthand the classified ads on OLX. Overall the percentage was up about 53% in the first quarter of 2016.

"We see that currently many companies are using OLX as a medium to find new candidates. Of all the advertisements offered by the company, an average of 1 advertisement is immediately responded to by 10 applicants," said Edward.

An interesting fact that OLX also shared was the interest and enthusiasm of the Indonesian people regarding used goods or goods second hand products. While the automotive industry, in this case cars, is experiencing a setback in terms of sales, this is not the case with used car sales using OLX classified ads.

"For used cars, we see that market prices remain stable and tend to increase. Likewise for housing, gadgets, motorcycles and hobbies," said Edward.

Meanwhile, the paid services that OLX has launched to sellers have also experienced a significant increase. The number of sellers who have taken advantage of this premium service has increased by 80% and revenue is also expected to increase.

"We at OLX will continue to launch monetization for sellers who want to be more prominent in offering existing products with a complete selection of paid services," said Daniel.

On this occasion, OLX's plan to launch the Chat V2 feature was also mentioned. Later, all sellers and users who use the OLX application can interact directly anonymous when you want to ask for more details, get information, and arrange appointments related to buying and selling transactions.

"This feature will certainly be very useful for fashion product sellers who can take advantage of in-app chat in the OLX app. Soon we will launch it in the near future," said Edward.

Other features that OLX will also launch soon are Ads Around Me. Functions similar to nearby locations, namely sellers and buyers who want to find products and pay by way of Cash on delivery (COD) can take advantage of this feature to find the desired product according to the location where the user is located.
