Noice Carry out Restructuring, Several Employees Affected by Layoffs [UPDATED]

Noice's CEO said that this step was taken so that the business grows relevant and sustainable

News layoffs sound loud coming from the startup industry in the country. One of the local audio content platforms, Noice, is also known to have restructured and adjusted its business focus. This step was taken to be able to grow more relevant and sustainable and to innovate better in the midst of dynamic global economic challenges.

After carrying out a series of comprehensive evaluations and reviews of the operational and strategic objectives going forward, the company admitted that it was with a heavy heart that it had to take steps to streamline the number of teams. This decision reportedly affected around 25 employees at the company.

It was written in an official statement, "With a heavy heart, we must take this difficult step as an effort so that Noice can still adapt to the existing market situation and challenges so that the company's future can be maintained."

The company is committed to supporting employees who are affected by this downsizing step through compensation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations from the Indonesian government regarding employment and support for their careers.

Through an official statement, Noice CEO Rado Ardian also revealed, "This restructuring will not change our commitment to millions of listeners and thousands of Noice creators in various regions to continue to focus on presenting quality content and products in the Noice application. Going forward, we hope to be able to do even more realizing the commitment to develop the audio content ecosystem in Indonesia."

Noice's journey to build audio content in Indonesia

As a local startup founded in 2018 and under the auspices of PT Mahaka Radio Integra Tbk, Noice initially only focused on providing content streaming radio. As the business grows, the platform starts to reach content podcast and ultimately focus on developing the audio content ecosystem in Indonesia.

Noice is also expanding the Noice Live feature which allows creators to interact with listeners in real-time real-time. Other features that complement Noice's ambitions as a home for audio content are audiobook which is named NoiceBook.

At the end of 2022, Noice also officially presented "Noicemaker Studio", a digital space without boundaries for creators to be able to optimize their work in the country's audio content industry. This feature is the first step that we bring to develop the potential of content creators who join and grow within the NOICE ecosystem.

Not long ago, Noice officially introduced this feature video podcasts and livestream videos. This feature was created as an alternative for users to enrich their experience in enjoying content from their favorite creators. Apart from that, it allows creators to build closer connections with their listeners, this feature also expands the opportunities for creators to monetize through audio and visual based content.

During its 5 years of existence, the company has received funding in several stages. Starting from early stage funding from Kenangan Kapital, Alpha JWC, and Kynesis Group. This was followed by a pre-series A round led by Alpha JWC Ventures and Argor Capital.

Most recently, Noice won series A pendanaan funding led by Northstar in early 2022. This round was also attended by previous investors, accelerating the acceleration of content acquisition and the development of an audio technology platform for creators.
