Visit "JID LaunchPad", the Center for Sustainable Technology Innovation in Singapore

Accommodating startups, incubators and venture capitalists to support impactful startup ecosystems in the region

One of the locations that is currently a gathering place for the startup community and entrepreneur in Singapore is LaunchPad located in the Jurong Innovation District (JID). The location, which was deliberately built to become a test area for collaborative learning, is equipped with facilities and supporting equipment to develop startups agritech, deep tech, IoT, and others.

Focus on sustainable technology

Microfactory (mFac) is one of the "studios" in the area that has taken many startup ideas to prototypes, then to viable working products. mFac functions as a community center, enabling beginners to learn from each other, exchange knowledge, and collaborate on specific projects.

It also offers a conducive environment for beginners to test and refine their solutions. The workspace is equipped with a 3D engine scanner3D printer, CNC machines, and other engineering tools.

In situs the official Managing Director of Mistletoe Singapore Atsushi Taira said, “Our next challenge is to empower people with the means of production. We do this by setting up micro-factories in every community, giving people the tools and equipment to build what they want."

Next is Mistletoe, a collective space that focuses on "impact projects" to address major challenges affecting society. Founded in Japan and headquartered in Singapore, Mistletoe has a portfolio of over 200 impactful startups.

In September 2019, Mistletoe partnered with Singapore's JTC to start Audacity, a community playground for innovators. Audacity's mission is to empower the next generation to develop new ground-up technologies to prototype the cities of tomorrow.

Focusing on sustainable technology is one of the missions of the Singapore government. By prioritizing technology, the local startup community is given a complete platform to develop innovations that are relevant and in line with the government's plans.
