Bahaso Try New Educational Content Outside Language Category (UPDATED)

Still not explained further. Targeting to reach rural areas in Indonesia

Well-known as an online learning service, Bahaso had a pretty good 2018 year. Apart from experiencing user growth, Bahaso is also exploring a number of strategic partnerships and launching several features to continuously improve their system.

In 2018 Bahaso claims to have 500.000 users. After graduating from the Indigo acceleration program, which also provided them with funding, Bahaso continued to gain new users, including corporate and government clients, such as Moratelindo and Kominfo, through the Bakti program.

Through this Bakti program, Bahaso goes further into the frontier, outermost, underdeveloped (T3) areas together with Pustekom to provide standardized English language learning.

"So this Bakti program provides free training for teachers and students in the T3 area. Bahaso as the owner of the license purchased by Bakti also provides a team of resource persons for training on the use of the Bahaso English platform," explained the CEO. language Allana Abdullah.

Bahaso also added a number of features throughout 2018. These include the offline mode feature, IELTS & TOEFL Preparation, corporate dashboard, and Mandarin (beta).

Regarding funding, last year Bahaso almost got a new investor, but because it was stated that there was a difference in vision in the middle of the negotiation process, the agreement failed to take place. In 2019, Bahaso said, he was looking for strategic investors with the right vision.

Allana further explained that in 2018 Bahaso experienced several challenges, including a lack of knowledge about e-learning in Indonesia and knowledge of the platform itself. Therefore, the company strives to continue to introduce Bahaso to the general public.

Although there are still problems with knowledge about online learning systems, Allana is quite optimistic about the growth in user demand in Indonesia. Given the improved infrastructure and the generation that is getting closer to the internet.

"For now, I think the Indonesian people do not believe 100% in the success of online learning. But for the current generation it has increased. With government programs that strongly support education and internet infrastructure, it is very helpful. Indonesia top 5 buyer for mobile learning and top 8 for e-learning growth (25%)," said Allana optimistic about the industry's growth e-learning in Indonesia.

Entering 2019, Bahaso has prepared a number of plans to continue to grow. One of the plans is to explore the online education segment outside of language. It is not clear what category or segment will be taken.

"In 2019 Bahaso will explore online education outside of languages. Bahaso's target for the next year is to provide standardized education to rural areas and improve the quality of resources through online learningand certification"Alana explained.

Update: Bahaso CEO Allana Abdullah confirmed that last year's fundraising had not been completed and now they are looking for a new strategic investor who has the right vision.
