Health Tech Startups HaloDoc Obtain Series A Funding

In total it has now secured $13 million (170 billion Rupiah) in funding to improve access to technology-based healthcare for everyone

Health tech startups HaloDoc announced the acquisition of Series A funding from a group of investors consisting of Clermont Group, Go-Jek, Blibli, and NSI Ventures. Even though it didn't specifically mention the gains in this round, HaloDoc state the total funding obtained by HaloDoc of $13 million (approximately 170 billion Rupiah). Funding will be used to improve the quality of applications developed by the group, including the Antar Pharmacy, and to help serve and address health access problems throughout Indonesia.

Along with this funding, HaloDoc also officially announced a collaboration with its investor, Go-Jek, for the development Go-Med as an on-demand delivery service for health products.

Founder and CEO HaloDoc Jonathan Sudharta in his release stated, "Our vision for HaloDoc is to help bring better healthcare to millions of Indonesians. We want to address [these problems] through technology for issues such as difficult access to healthcare. This round of funding helps us to continue to build up our engineering resources and develop the most suitable products for wider adoption in order to achieve this goal."

HaloDoc launched last April, HaloDoc has a number of health features, such as medical consultations using the video call (teleconsultation) feature, purchasing drugs via Intermediate Pharmacy who was present first, laboratory examination on-demand, and directory information containing information on doctors and health centers in Indonesia.

Throughout this year, many health technology startups received new funding. Nonetheless, according to a survey conducted by DailySocial, the penetration of health technology services in Indonesia is still low because only a third of respondents are familiar with startups in this sector.

Funding like this, a starting point for HaloDoc to reach a wider public, who not only do not understand health technology products, but also lack adequate access to health.
