HappyFresh Presents in the Bukalapak Application, Completes the "Online Groceries" feature [UPDATED]

Bukalapak hooks HappyFresh for release new features online groceries which can be accessed through the Bukalapak application. This release is in order to boost business online groceries in Bukalapak which has increased since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to being present in the Bukalapak application, HappyFresh services could be accessed via Grab (for Groceries feature) and Line (for feature LINEMAN) which just arrived in Thailand as of the beginning of this year. The plan was prepared by the company last year based on the last interview together DailySocial.

In an official statement, Bukalapak noted that since the beginning of March there has been an increase in transactions for basic goods up to 3,5 times from the previous month. Until now, this category is the most sought after by consumers.

“In order to continue to fulfill this need well, we are encouraged to continue to develop Bukalapak products and services. This is the background of our partnership with HappyFresh, where all of our users can now shop at grocery stores their choice while still following the protocol physical distancing," said Director of Fintech, Payment, and Virtual Products Bukalapak Victor Lesmana, Monday (13/7).

Bukalapak itself previously released features online groceries BukaMart's O2O concept since last year. The target audience and users of this service are different from HappyFresh Groceries. Separately, to DailySocial, Victor explained that BukaMart was initiated to create a fair economy for all levels of society through an online platform.

BukaMart is a feature that was launched to provide various daily goods needs through collaboration with a number of official and trusted goods providers. BukaMart also collaborates with Mitra Bukalapak stalls to serve the needs of the community.

BukaMart partners are spread in various locations in big and small cities, including Balikpapan, Ngawi, Blitar, Madiun, Jember and so on. The products sold come from authorized suppliers and can be sent on the same day with logistics courier partners.

The shopping experience at HappyFresh through Bukalapak is not much different from GrabFresh, for example. On the main page, users will be presented with the nearest supermarket from their location before starting shopping.

In the HappyFresh application itself, it has been integrated with Dana for the choice of payment method. They have collaborated with more than 150 supermarkets and specialty shops spread across Jadetabek, Bandung, Surabaya and Malang. In addition, at each location, HappyFresh has an internal team named Personal Shoppers who have been trained and delivered by their own courier.

“We are pleased to partner with Bukalapak [..] Bukalapak users can now shop for groceries and daily necessities in a practical and safe way, while maintaining the norms social distancing [..],” added the Managing Director of HappyFresh Indonesia Filippo Candrini.

The most "green" industry

Can be said online groceries become one of the most “green” growing industries in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, this industry becomes an arena for other companies to glance and make a fortune there and enliven competition map online groceries.

Under observation DailySocial, a number of these companies include mobile ad solutions startup Ub Iklan which released UbiFresh; startup proptech Travelio signed in with TravelioMart; SME empowerment startup Titipku; logistics startup Deliveree; logistics startup last mile Paxel; until the ISP provider company Greenet released NetBli.

The efforts of the startups above are part of the choice to remain relevant to the situation in order to keep the company alive. It is very likely that the business will continue because when new normal, daily shopping needs will still have its fans.
