Grab and Sinar Mas Land Strategic Collaboration for "Digital Smart City" in BSD City

The first step starts with improving the mapping system to make it more accurate

Grab and Sinar Mas Land inaugurated a strategic partnership for the development of an integrated smart digital city in BSD City. Grab will be a technology partner in the city by presenting the latest innovations that are in line with solutions in the areas of connectivity and mobility.

Through the signing of a memorandum of understanding today (4/3), another collaboration between Grab with Sinarmas Group. The occasion was also attended by Sinar Mas Land Group CEO Michael Widjaja and Group CEO and Co-Founder Grab Anthony Tan.

Please note, the investment is prepared Grab in this collaboration it was disclosed that it was included as part of the master plan Grab for Indonesia 2020 of US$700 million and Grab Ventures with an investment of US$250 million.

"Indonesia still has big challenges regarding connectivity and mobility. So there is still a lot of homework to do. Sinar Mas Land cooperates with experts in technology so that the BSD community can more easily carry out their daily activities," said Sinar Mas Land Managing Director Donny Rahayu.

Presence Grab, he continued, in line with the efforts of BSD City which is currently transforming towards a digital smart city. Which, this effort has been initiated since the city was built more than 30 years ago. The technology that has been developed by Sinar Mas Land is one of them OneSmile application will be prepared so that it can be integrated with Grab.

President Grab Indonesia's Ridzki Kramadibrata added that there were three initiatives that would be carried out Grab in BSD City in the future. The closest thing is to apply the BSD City area mapping method to make it easier for passengers to determine more accurate pick-up and drop-off points.

Then, do a test run Personal Mobility Devices (PMD) which can be a means of short distance personal transportation at an affordable cost. Finally, conducting a pilot program for shared mobility solutions in the BSD City area.

"In transportation technology, there is a lot of mobility in it, for intracity we can provide it like a shuttle but the new way. There is also a feeder, but all with new technology with the aim of having the best experience for customers," said Ridzki.

Ridzki said PMD has been tested and proven in Singapore with services GrabWheels which uses e-scooter. There, Grab partners with the National University of Singapore (NUS) for the modes of transportation for its students.

At BSD City, Grab will build Grab Innovation and Engineering Lab as a research and development center for innovation at GOP 9, BSD City, which utilizes artificial intelligence technology to create smart and organized transportation systems. This location is in the same building as Apple.

Besides that, Grab will run the program Grab Ventures Velocity in BSD City for training and mentoring for selected startups. They are given the opportunity to develop their business and join the application Grab. It was stated, BSD City was the first integrated smart digital city in Indonesia with the right location for the program.

Apart from providing solutions to transportation problems, the two companies are also trying to support culinary-based local SMEs in the area by establishing a satellite kitchen called Kitchen by GrabFood.

"In the every day super app outside of modes of transportation, Grab want to empower more SMEs with the technology we have. Because technology can make their productivity better, market access can also be wider."

Concept Kitchen by GrabFood was first introduced in September 2018 by choosing West Jakarta, right at Kedoya. In this concept, Grab provide food court for selected culinary SMEs and only focus on service takeaways make every order coming from GrabFood.
