Grab Encourage Electric Vehicle Projects in Indonesia

Striving to build an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia

The plan is for electric motorbikes, which are still expensive, to be leased through the company.

News about entry Grab in the electric vehicle initiative has been widely heard since last year. November of 2018 Grab accept funding from Hyundai and Kia Motors for $250 million. Included in the plans and agreements is the development of electric vehicles in Southeast Asia.

Grab also officially established cooperation with PLN to develop the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. Both plans will be carried out in stages starting from the Jabodetabek area. Grab also said to have done pilot project for two-wheeled and four-wheeled electric vehicles that have charging station from the PLN.

Regarding electric vehicles, Grab already have a fleet electric vehicles in Singapore as a result of cooperation with Hyundai. The use of electric vehicles is expected to provide more efficiency and benefits for partners. For implementation in Indonesia, it seems that it is only a matter of time, given the encouragement from the government is quite large.
