Good Doctor Inaugurates a Separate Application from Grab

Good Doctor Technology Indonesia, a joint venture of Ping An Good Doctor and Grab, inaugurated a separate app "Good Doctor" after one year of presence on the app Grab, support digital infrastructure for features GrabHealth. The presence of the application has actually been planned by the company since its inception and has been rolled out since October last year before the inauguration event.

In a virtual press conference held yesterday (1/3), Managing Director of Good Doctor Technology Indonesia, Danu Wicaksana explained, with a separate application, it is hoped that it can accelerate the use of applications. healthtech much more massive to remote areas.

"After we observed, there are still many people who need telemedicine access either through Grab or outside Grab. For that we want to reach all over Indonesia, so that our mission of one doctor for one family can be achieved," said Danu.

Quoting from a Nielsen survey in September 2020, it is stated that out of the total population of internet users in Indonesia, it is estimated that only 47% of users have used telemedicine applications, while the rest have not. In addition, the World Bank publication on January 25, 2021, stated that health consultations via telephone and online channels are still relatively rare in Indonesia.

Of the households requiring health services, only 7% had consultations by telephone or online. Another 40% don't use it because they don't know the availability or don't know how to use it. While the remaining 17% chose a physical consultation with a doctor. The rest do not access because of technological constraints or limited internet access, and other reasons.

These data show that there is still a lot of room for telemedical applications to continue to grow, participate in increasing access to quality and affordable health care.

Danu explained, Good Doctor positions itself as an application for all segments of community needs, starting from the elderly, pregnant & lactating mothers, skin and beauty enthusiast, and members of the public with chronic diseases, with a variety of supporting features.

Since the pandemic, the Good Doctor service has experienced a business spike of between 8 and 10 times, the largest contribution from teleconsulting services. The company accommodates more than 10 thousand teleconsultations every day, about 10%-20% of which are consultations with psychiatrists related to mental health.

Since its arrival in December 2019, Good Doctor has now partnered with thousands of doctors consisting of 26 specialties, more than 1 hospitals, clinics and laboratories, and 2.000 pharmacies.

In an effort to increase penetration, together Grab, the company partners with the government to run vaccination programs online drive-thru. The first step is to be in Bali, then expand to Bali and South Tangerang starting this month.
