Gojek and BCA Release GoBiz Plus POS Device, Making it Easy for Merchants to Accept Non-Cash Payments

Gojek has more than 900 thousand business partners in Southeast Asia

Gojek announced a collaboration with BCA for the launch of POS devices GoBiz Plus make it easy merchant accept all cashless payment options; starting from debit cards, credit, electronic money, and QRIS. GoBiz Plus is a continuation of the development of super app GoBiz, the app Gojek for business partners since 2018.

Co-CEO Gojek Andre Soelistyo explained, MSMEs are the backbone of the country's economy. Therefore, Gojek has a role to support MSME partners so that they continue to gain access to go digital. Especially during this pandemic, people are increasingly prioritizing non-cash transactions to minimize direct physical contact.

“To realize this vision, we always do collaborations that have become our DNA. In the launch of GoBiz Plus, we are with BCA. BCA has become big supporters us since five years ago,” he said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday (15/12).'=

Well Gojek nor Gojek both are affiliated with the same parent, namely the Djarum Group. Through Blibli, Djarum injected Gojek with an undisclosed amount in 2018.

Director of BCA Santoso Liem also said that the two companies have the same vision in advancing the MSME sector through digitalization. BCA implements technology that allows users to choose from various payment options. Through this opportunity, BCA wants to enter the second and third tier cities because he is aware that BCA has been strong in urban areas only.

“GoBiz Plus uses payment standards recognized by Bank Indonesia, both from chip technology and QRIS. This is expected to be an added value that can encourage our MSMEs," said Santoso.

Further explained by the Head of Merchant Platform Business Gojek Novi Tandjung, GoBiz Plus is a versatile piece of hardware that supports business partners to operate more efficiently and support their business growth. Some of its capabilities are accepting payments from various cards, thanks to the cooperation with BCA.

Then, accept QR code based payments and various digital wallets; print receipts instantly because it is equipped with 'built-in' printer; and POS services to make it easier to record orders, update menus and prices.

Novi continued, GoBiz Plus has actually been released since the beginning of this year, but the release was only carried out towards the end of the year because there were many considerations due to the pandemic. GoBiz itself is claimed to have more than 900 thousand merchants throughout Southeast Asia. It is not stated how many partners have upgraded to GoBiz Plus.

Novi only said that GoBiz Plus is only offered on a limited basis for partners who have a transaction threshold according to the criteria. The fee paid by partners to use GoBiz Plus is IDR 4.900 per day. “GoBiz has merchants spread across 19 cities in Indonesia. However, to use GoBiz Plus, certain conditions must be met," he concluded.
