Go-Jek hopes to be able to launch in the Philippines soon

Currently negotiating with local authorities

Go-Jek is reportedly in talks with the Philippine government to operate there. Previously Go-Jek's expansion steps stumbled transportation moratorium online in the local area.

"We are in talks with all government agencies and are optimistic that we will soon be in the (Philippines) market," said Go-Jek Co-Founder & CIO Kevin Aluwi as quoted by Antara. quoted by Reuters.

Since 2018 Go-Jek has started to carry out its expansion operations to the Southeast Asian market. Currently, Go-Jek is already present in Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore.

Not long ago, Go-Jek reported that it had make acquisitions majority share of startups fintech in the Philippines, named Coins.ph. There will be strategic synergies between the two companies, including bringing Go-Pay's advantage in the Philippine market.

Many think that this acquisition is part of an effort to smoothen Go-Jek's expansion. Coins.ph itself offers an app e-money, similar to Go-Pay. Most likely later it will be integrated during service ride hailing Go-Jek debuts in the Philippines.

One of Go-Jek's expansion strategies is localization. Including by building a local team in the country of expansion. For example in Thailand, they operate through local team under the control of Get Co-founder & CEO Pinya Nittayakasetwat.

Even in addition to Singapore, Go-Jek's expansion so far has also brought brand new -- there's GET in Thailand and Go-Viet in Vitnam. The hope is to accelerate penetration in the local market.
